Hello everyone,

I am new here. My 21 year old son (my baby) left for the Navy today. I am so very proud for him !  But the other side of that coin, I miss him like crazy already.

He is very strong and will do well. He and I are very close.

Dear lord, this is so hard.... I just cannot quit thinking about them being in his face, yelling at him, belittling him, making him feel stupid.... I know he will be fine and I know he will be a much stronger individual after he does this, I know this is the best thing for him..... I guess I am taking it hard...

Anyway, I know I am rambling.. sorry  :(

Even though I dont sound like it right now,  I am VERY excited for him and his future .  :)

FireTeamLead - Let me know when this PIR group forms up.  I rarely follow the PIR groups, but this one I want to since these guys will be the Christmas unit.

I just notice someone said their recruit is on the Kearsarge, here is a couple pictures for you.  It will give you something to write about....  (ie what floor and which section of the ship are they?)....

Thanks so much, that's really cool!!!!
I only got the address so far, not sure of what floor and what section yet. How did you get the pics????
Craig - Sent you the info! Thanks for putting the pics of the Kearsarge up...my son was Ship 11 in BC...what a treat!

navymom2011 - I have been doing this Navy forum stuff for a really, really long time.  I run two Navy forum websites myself, NavyDEP.com and NavyFamilies.com, and I am the group admin here at N4M for:

(¯`'•.¸ NAVY MEPS & DEP FAMILIES ¸.•'´¯)

(for newbie family members)

Cryptology ~ CTI ~ CTM ~ CTN ~ CTR ~ CTT ~ Corry Station Pensacola ...

(for those that are in the CT field)

USS Chicken Ship ~ Avast rowdy matey's, belay to the Poop deck for ...

(for those that don't get easily offended, and that would like to laugh instead of cry through boot camp and the Navy)

My enjoyment is helping deppers understand the Navy before they go.  So I make various things to help them through boot camp.  Here is a slide shows called "Boot Camp for Dummies" which helps them, and it might help you guys too.  Just go to this link:  (if you like it, make a comment)

Thanks again :)

Hi Navymom2011,

I tried texting my son's recruiter yesterday for my son's mailing address there at boot camp, but he hasn't responded.  How did you know your son was on USS Kearsarge?  Is that info on the mailing address you got?  I feel so naive and uninformed, and you seem like you are lightyears ahead!  :)  Lori

Hey Lori,

I am very new to all of this, trust me.  My sons recruiter told us to call 3 days after he left and he could get it off of a website that they have sccess to.  Call again on Monday and just be persistant!  Also, let me know when you find out maybe they are together wouldn't that be cool?

Great website makes me feel closer to my son, his experience isn't such a mystery to me now.

Just received my box of clothes on Nov 1 still waiting for the rest of the information, We are in NJ who knows how long that will take.
NavyMomma - Contact his recruiter.  They have this info about which ship he's on....
