Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed.  Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Great Lakes In December

My daughter left for BC October 24th.,Her PIR should be around mid December. I keep hearing horror stories about the weather in Great Lakes. Has anybody been there in December?

Our son left Oct 24th too...my husband was there back in 1977, he said when he left in Nov there was already snow on the ground...Brrrrrrr!!!

Mine too! Can handle cold and snow, just dont want too much!! We're from Colorado and have all the cold weather gear, just no cold weather last few years... Just dont want the stress!!! Good luck everyone on getting to PIR in time!! :-)

I was up there for the whole month of December due to my husband being in A-school in Great Lakes. It was horrible...soooo sorry to say! It snowed and iced almost every day.  The best thing to do, is if you need to get somewhere, wait until after morning traffic has cleared the roads a little, and don't be out after the sun has gone down. If you need to go out, let a taxi driver take you. The tires they have are ice/snow tires and they're used to driving in that mess. :)

 

Also, if you're worried about getting to PIR, then stay in a hotel really close and leave at least 1 hour before you want to be in line to get into the gate. It won't hurt to be there extra early. I was there, in line, to get my car through the gate at 5:30 am and the line was already at least 1 mile long. Don't hesitate to be an early bird and get there really early!!!! It's worth it. If you're in line first/or close to first, then you'll get the best seats too! I was on the front row and was one of the 1st to have my arms around my Sailor!!! awesome feeling. :)

Holy Cow is all I can say did you not see the horror stories of Michigan Ave in  Chicago when the storm off of the great lakes stranded people in their cars on the road and the cars were stuck for days, the National Guard had to go get people out of their cars OMG so not a good place to be in the winter especially if your not used to the traveling conditions. Sorry but thats honest. Best of luck we will all be pulling that the weather is unseasonably nice for you.

It all depends on the lake effect snow. Let's all just pray for cold weather and no snow.

My son reported for BC on 10/27, so I also will be there during nasty weather. I'd rather have cold and no snow.

My son also report to BC on 10/27.  We're use to cold New England Winters, so will be bringing all my warm clothes with me.  But praying for cold rather than snow.
