My husband was just given his verbal orders, after which he was also told he will be deployed. My husband will be coming home from school the middle of November, we will move within days and he will be gone a few days later (2 weeks with him total from when he comes home)! I am over the initial shock of him leaving and now have questions about the area.

My family lives in Portland so I am familiar with the Pacific Northwest however I have never been to Whidbey Island. Can anyone who was/is stationed there give me some insight on base life, the area and just life in general on the island? We also have a 13 month old, so if anyone knows of a good daycare or base daycare facility it would be greatly appreciated! I am super excited to get up there and get settled (currently live in Huntington Beach CA) Thanks!

Hey I live in Everett. which is abt an hour or two from whidbey i dont know that area too much but here are two sites that are great for info abt the area: http://www.navylifepnw.com/default.aspx and http://www.militarymerits.com/ I know there are quite a few ladies on here over at Whidbey... try going back through discussions to find some :) good luck!
Hey. I live here. Are you trying to live on base? It's a small place but its beautiful. Is he deploying?
Hi! Yes I want to live on base because he will be deployed in a few weeks. We have literally a week or so to move and get settled, he isn't done with A school for 2 more weeks. Do you live on base? I was reading about the communities outside the base for military families, do you know anything about them? Is there base housing on the actual base? Sorry for so many questions but we are not getting any answers from his sponsor at Whidbey Island or the chief in A school.

Hey I just moved here looking for navy wives. -)

Hi! I will be up there in 2 weeks, we can definitely get in touch

Hey! I just moved here about a month ago with my husband an 10 week old daughter. It's very beautiful here don't worry it doesn't rain as much as everyone says it does. If your looking for a daycare on base go to navylifepnw.com an it has information about there daycare an a lot more helpful info. I haven't really been on the base much we live out in town.. Do y'all plan on living in housing? I've heard they have nice base housing.

Hi!!! We are in a very bad situation, my husband is still in Mississippi for A school and wont be home until late next week, Per his orders he must report by 11-30 and he will be deployed. We are trying to get housing on base ASAP but our dilemma is that my husband is the one who must execute everything. He went to legal yesterday for the POA and it will not be sent off until today. Also I cannot correspond with the moving company, he has to, so everything is on hold until I receive the POA. My husband is so busy at school he has no time at all to do anything extra or he will be behind and it will delay him coming home. If he comes home on 11-18 that give us 12 days to move and get settled before he is shipped off, we are so stressed its ridiculous!!!

I don't know what to do, I feel helpless here and am a mess.

Where do you guys live? What are you paying? and how big is the house if you don't mind me asking. I may just have to find us off base housing ASAP, the issue is we need at least a 3-4 bedroom, we have so much stuff and we plan on expanding our family next year.

I need as much help as I can get and fast! the sponsor my husband was given is us no info and has helped with nothing, also my husband can only call after school which is 3:30 his time and 5:30 our time so they have already gone home for the day.

I need advice!!!!

Wow! Thats a lot to be going on. Maybe you should consider living off base since you have so little time an your husband isn't really able to help right now. I understand how you feel i was a mess when we were trying to move here i had just had my baby 2 weeks before we had no were to go besides a hotel when we got here it was very stressful! Dont worry it'll all work out! Your husband doesn't have to check in an go through psd an an everything?? Is he deploying straight from A-school? Do you know what command he is in??

We live in a apartment there not really apartment complexes there pretty nice im not sure of the sqft but its 2 bedrooms w/ washer an dryer nice big bathroom for 750 i believe an then we pay water an power. I could give you some numbers for the rental company we used an some others around here. If your looking for a house look on the website whidbeyhomesforrent.com i don't know yalls budget but they have some affordable house an apartments on there. It took the rental company about 3 days to get us in our place. We had to stay at the navy gateway for a few day 50$ a night for a suit, but the navy should pay you back that for all that.

My husbands sponsor never helped out either. We came here with nowhere to live.
Are u here yet or is the date still set for the 30th
