I am very excited for him, i think this will be the perfect job for him!
Thank you again for all of the great information!
Hi Karin. My daughter arrived at Dam Neck last Sat.They are holding for the next PIR group to start their A school. This is such an exciting time for our kids. It will be fun to chat over the next few months. Hang in there for the next few weeks- and remember, no phone call is good news!
"A" School is officially underway! I'm sending my daughter a box of her personal things so she has some regular clothes for Phase 2. I'm recycling her bootcamp box! Won't she be surprized!
Dr. Debb....
My daughter is at BC and just asked me to send her information about the different Phases. Let me know if you have any insider tips!!!
LOL
HI Karin....
My daughter is also in the July 15th PIR group and will be heading to Dam Neck. When I got my call I asked her if there were any other IS recruits and she said that she knew of only 1 guy. Must be yur Son!!! I am so looking forward to July 15th. As much as I miss her time has seemed to go by quickly....I am sure it will slow down the closer we get.
I hope we have a chance to meet at PIR, if you are able to make the trip....are you attending the Meet and Greet
at the Ramada?
My son is ship 07 div 227. i miss him alot , i did receive 2 letters today, actually he wrote on to his father for fathers day! it was awesome! my husband was so choked up. i cant believe we only have 23 days left! i can hardy wait! I received a phone call the 3rd week, it was the best 22 minutes ever! we are staying at the residence inn in great lakes, i really wanted a kitchen just in case he wants me to cook him something :)
i keep telling my self he is starving because he is not eating my cooking! ;) Thee today the letter told us that the food wasnt that bad... so that is A RELIEF!
Have a great evening. see you soon!
Haha Karin, I went through the same thing with Christopher! I could picture this little skeleton having his a** worked off in BC. He said that was one of the best things was that they fed them really well. He actually gained weight while at GL! If things have not changed at DN in the past couple of years though, the food there used to be bad. Tell him to get in the good graces of someone who has their car there and once he phases up he can go to the commissary at Oceania. Welcome to the IS world.
I thin.k that was the same when Chris was there as well. If I remember correctly I was only on his registration for the sake of insurance (it kept him from having to get his own policy that would have been outrageous). But it did not have to be only in his name. Call Family and Fleet Services at Oceania for more information if you are in doubt.
Welcome SRMCmom! I am somewhat of a newbee myself. My son arrived at Dam Neck in the beginning of September. He will finish his "A" school mid December.
We were able to visit him once so far. We drove to Virginia Beach to bring him his vehicle. It was somewhat of a long trip for us but it was great to see him.
The timing to send packages is a bit tricky. His mailing address is the "A" school address. I just found out that they don't get mail on Saturday. The box of goodies I sent didn't arrive on Friday. So even if it arrived on Saturday, he has to wait until Monday to get the package. Be sure to send packages insured, even if it for only $1.
The moms on this site have been a wonderful help to me! So glad you found us!
