Hello fellow Moms (family)

My son left on Wednesday the 9th for Great Lakes and I haven't received his "box" yet.  In fact, I have received nothing. (besides the 9 second I'm here call)   :(  I am so confused and completely lost.  I have no idea what to expect, when to expect it or what I am supposed to do in the mean time.  I know they are not allowed to call unless they earn it but does anyone know when the earliest call would be if he could make one?  I also don't know how to figure out his grad date etc.  I have so many questions and no answers.  I am so grateful for this site and for all of you.  I don't know how I would be able to manage without a support system.  Thank you in advance.

God Bless you all

You should have gotten the I'm here call!!!

See how brain dead I am, I did receive that call, it was so short  :(

It will take at least a few more days.   It was 9 days until I got my daughters.  And you should have gotten the I have arrived call.

See how brain dead I am, I did receive that call, it was so short  :(  Good to know that it could take a little longer for the "box" I heard it came FedEx so I thought it would be here by now.  Thanks for the help.  :)

Nicksmom, My name is Beth aka Pancakehollow. I did recieve the box yesterday and my son went in on the 8th. I am guessing your box will come for you today via fed ex. I have yet to recieve ANYTHING else. My plan of action is to call Seans recruiter today to get a grad date and address. I just cant wait anymore. I did see on the site that it is possible to recieve the box without the info in it. I was expecting more to come with it. You will not get a phone call for 3 weeks. Did your son call you when he arrived at great lakes on wednesday? My call came in at 11 PM and was about 30 seconds long when I was told mom I have to go now.   It was then that he told me that he would call in 3 weeks. Are you okay? I hope this helped. I know how hard the waiting is. If I were you I would call his recruiter. They should have all the info by know.

Hugs,

Beth

Oh Beth thank you!!  My name is Mindy.  I am really trying to hang in there but I had no idea how hard it would be.  I hope it is easier for him.  I thought I was a strong lady until this last week.  :(  I guess the saying is true that absence makes the heart grow fonder.  I am counting the minutes until I get word from him...  I did get the infamous "Im here" call.  It was about 9 seconds long and it also came at 11:00 pm.  I really appreciate your comments and I hope we can stay in touch.  It sounds like we are in the same boat.  (no pun intended)  :)

Thanks again Beth, xoxo

Mindy

You are so welcome Mindy! Thanks back to you. This site is my only link to what is happening with my son. Each of us puts a piece into the puzzle. It should get interesting when we all get letters from our boys and girls. Then the real picture will come out. I come on here everyday and check in to see what everyone else is doing and to make sure that I am either 1)not crazy or 2)not missing anything.  I am waiting to get the ship and division #. Then I can send the letters I have already written.  9 weeks seems like a really long time right?  It has never seemed like that long before.
Check out the great lakes bootcamp video. You will see where they sleep, eat, workout, train. That helped me alot. Now at least I can picture where Sean is living.

Hi Mindy....

I was reading your post and am so thankful for this site and to know that I am not the only mom that feels...well I cant even explain.  My son left on the 14th and I thought I was stronger, we were both excited about the date but the emotions that took over and the tears that come from nowhere...All I can say is I am so thankful for this site...Hang in there.

I will say that the 10 sec. I'm here" call and hearing his voice made me feel a little better.

Danitra (Steven's Mom)

To clarify -- The box isn't supposed to have any information in it. Just your recruit's belongings. The information arrives separately, in the form letter. Just wanted to assure you that all is normal.

My son left for GL on November 9th of last year. I know exactly what you are going through. The box and the from letter will probably come at different times. It just depends. There is no exact schedule, as you will soonn come to know. Some things are dependant upon their leaders and some upon the circumstances. I would wait for the official form letter for the address because only your recruit can give you the exact information you need to send letters. The graduation date will be posted once everyone gets assigned to a "ship." I know it's hard but hang in there. Remember, no news is good news. They will call when allowed. I got a call on Thanksgiving with new that my son was on bed rest because he had his wisdom teeth removed. That's just how it goes. I'll keep all of you in my prayers. This is rough anytime, but especially during the Holidays. But if you are able to go to graduation, it will all be worth it. Take care!

@nicksmom. First let me assure you that you are fine to worry. We all worry and this is the right place to get all the  answers and encouragement from the fellow moms.My son left on the 8th and I got the box a few days so you should be getting yours very soon. You should have gotten the initial call to say he arrived but it all depends on whethe ror not time allows for that particular group to get to use the phones.I am still waiting for the form letter so I can start writing to him. What I would suggest is that you join some of the different discussions and also check out the RTC facebook page and you will get loads of info that will help you through this time.

It took nearly 2 weeks before i got my sons back in March when he left!! Give it time and when you get it treasure the moment!!! God Bless you
