Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

New Nuke Moms Fall 2011
I can't keep track of all the new arrivals. Know that there was a class from BC PIR last week of Oct with over 20 Nukes, PIR 11/4 had at least 8, believe there are some more in the next few classes. Would like to have an easy referral site so I can remember that all of you are in about the same stage as my son. Probably going thru alot together.

My son, Addison, is headed to nuke school next week. Hope I'll have an easier time keeping up with him there than when he was a recruit. Can anyone give me some ideas of what to expect? I don't know what class he'll be in, but he's on Ship 11 Div 2 at Great Lakes.

Sheltie while they are waiting to class up they are kept busy during the day and have down time at night and on the weekends. Once classes start which could take a couple of weeks or at least it did for my sailor, they become very busy but do have free time on the weekends. They have alot of required study time each week. Communication is better than in boot camp but is still limited due to their class schedule, watches and study time.

I spoke to colten today and he said this new class is so big that there are 2 classes 1207A and 1207B divided by alpha. They had 80 nukes graduated on 11/4.

I so love Colten being out of boot camp. I get to talk to him everyday!! It is amazing. Now once A school actually starts that may not be the case. I could kiss the person that invented skype. I get to see my sailor every time I talk to him. I can't wait to get to goose creek to see him for Thanksgiving

So, so, exciting for all of your sons that are classing up. My is still driving across the USA! He has said that he will class up in Dec. So glad that it will work out for some of you to go to GC for Thanksgiving!

It was so great seeing Addison and watching his Pass-In-Review yesterday. I almost didn't recognize him - he's lost just over 20 pounds! Spent a wonderful afternoon with him and had dinner with him at the base just to be sure we weren't late getting back. Saw him off at Chicago O'Hare at 1:30 this morning, then we did a quick drive around downtown Chicago before hitting the long road home. Got in about 6:30 this evening. Our chauffeur, my wonderful husband, is pooped! Wouldn't have made it home safe without him. Got word from Addison that he is safely in Charleston and ready to get settled in. Looking forward to Christmas when we will see him for a longer visit. He said he would not get a class assignment until December. He was one of 18 that went to GC for nuke school.

My son missed the class that started on Monday. He thinks the next one will start the week after Thanksgiving or the first week in December.

exactly - we're pretty close to the end, he's hoping to catch up to some of the people he finished basic with when they go to power school

My son just signed up for Navy and will be NUKE...doesnt leave for Bootcamp until August. How often do the Nuke classes begin? I see lots are in it......he is hoping that he can go earlier...I just wonder how often they start...is the only training at GC in South Carolina?

wonders520, I so remember being where you are now. Still trying to figure out how often Nuke classes begin. I believe that every bootcamp training group has Nukes, but some have more then others. Then when they get to Goose Creek, I think it is about once a month that they class up, but someone else has said that it is weekly. Either way, to impossible to plan, as you can see from buffalonavymom, you can get delayed for being at the end of the alphabet. Hold on tight, stay on and watch this group, because they are soooo informed and informative. But also join the group for Deppers http://www.navyformoms.com/group/deppersinbutnotyet?commentId=19717... and then when it gets closer, start looking at the group for Aug BootCamp.
