Hi Jaydawn1. Looks like we maybe the only two for now. Did you receive the form letter with a note from your son? We received our form letter on Thursday. We were very glad to see the familar handwritting.

Yes we sure did receive his form letter on Thursday as well. we were just too excited and he wrote a note on the back also. We started writing him ever since and has tried to send at least two letters per day so he will have something to read from us pretty soon. I am hoping that more people join this discussion but for now we can just get acquainted until then. I am very excited about the Christmas adopt-a-sailor program and hopefully we will get to go out there and spend the day with him. I am keeping my fingers crossed...lol

Hello all! My name is Katie. My fiance is in 07/035! I'm so glad someone started this. I know another girl who is engaged to someone in this division as well. She will also be very happy. We're both a little disappointed about the adopt-a-sailor for Christmas seeing as we cannot pick up our sailors that day and their families can not come and get them. At least its not too far off from graduation day! I was blessed enough to get my form letter the day after he sent it. We don't live too far way. Such a comfort and a way to really get these weeks starting fly by. Hopefully we'll get letters in the week coming up!

@Katie, Welcome to this discussion. I am so glad to have more people joining in with us. I was under the impression that since they will pass in review on Jan 6th then they would qualify for the christmas adopt a sailor program. Did you find information that stated otherwise? Please let me know where you saw this because I read it directly from the RTC facebook page.

I'm not considered family. So I can not pick my sailor up from the base.

oh ok I see what you're saying and that is really sad though the way they consider who is family from who isn't. I think they should let the sailor decide who he or she would want to be that person and it shouldn't be just the biological family so to speak.

Hello All!! Thanks jaydawn1 for starting this group and I am very proud to say that I have a son in this division and I got my form letter on Thursday also...Very excitied that they will be apart of the adopt a sailor program for Christmas, but sad because I will not be able to be the one to adopt since we are from Chalmette, La and can't make it for Christmas and than again 2 weeks later. Would like to also say welcome to Hismom and AJM's Girl.    (P.S. The note on the form letter was awesome and very uplifting for me).

It was very uplifting for me too. It's getting me through until we actually get a real letter. Hopefully this week right?!

Hopefully this week!! I was hoping that maybe a phone call today/tonight:) Still have time... How old is your finance?

My fiance? He's 19.

Sorry AJM's Girl about the spelling (can tell I'm in another world); My son is 23.

Hi Loganmyseaman and welcome to the group. I am excited that in a few weeks we will be able to meet and also will be able look back at these weeks and say we made it. I haven't got any phone calls yet but just to be able to write to my son makes a big difference. Let's keep our hopes up this week that we will get phone calls and letters...
