For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Thanks for the insight. :) I was kind of freaking out about it. Now that you put it that way it makes sense. Break them so they can build them back up. I just hope THEY know that that is what it is... You hate to hear discouragement in their tone. I am praying we get called today.

gmansmom CONGRATS....so happy.... and THE MAIL GUY.... my son is one of the cadence callers, the marching/drill instructor. He also helps the RCPO...as well as does something with boots/shoes/socks idk what that could be.. hahah...Rexy's right... this is their breaking time... need to strip all that is civilian.. and create a sailor... some of the guys will get down on themselves then their shipmates will bring them back up... My son said they are working on team building.. and he can make his rack and his bunkmates rake in under 12 minutes... Oh my son said he has a SR that is from Brunswick Me.. is that where your family is ?? if so... HOW COOL my SR was born there. Sounds like we moms might need to write to other SRs for encouragement??.

My SR didn't sound down in his letter. Just that the div hadn't done their best & they were having a hard time so not to expect a call soon. I'm sure they are getting to know each other & will be working on teamwork. I'm sure things change quickly there as that's all they get to do all day. No xbox & all lol!

I'm late to the game, but I'm a dad and my son's in this division. We received our first real letter during Thanksgiving week, too. It wasn't very informative. The boy just asked for us to send letters. By then, we had sent at least six, so I'm assuming he hadn't received any yet. We cracked up at his first short note on the back page of the form letter. He said the first week was 'dreadful' (never heard him use that word before). He also said he was sure the division would be in great shape by the end because nobody knew how to keep their mouths shut.
I'm hopeful there will be another letter in the mail today.

I got a letter finally and he sounds soooo good! I laughed so hard at some of his stories. :) He is loving it and I am so happy. He also sent me the adopt a sailor paper so it looks like I will be spending my Christmas in IL with my Sonshine!! Way too excited. ;)

We can't really afford it either but he was very persuasive. I am going alone and taking the good old Greyhound. It is my Christmas, Birthday, Easter, and Arbor Day present. lol.

Proudmom- I am back on the grid just for that reason. Got cell service about 745 this morning. I know my husband wasnt so happy to cut our trip short but he understood I needed to be around just in case. I know it probably won't happen but wanted to b available just in case. Congrats on the letter!

If they earn a call it will probably be the weekend after the 3rd week of training. By the calculations of barbydahlzz and myself they are only entering their 2nd week of training. So I think it will be at least two weeks before we can expect a call. However, you never know for sure.

Yeah, I know. The form letter was Nov 16 & said P-2. They were on hold the 11th-14th due to the holiday & Sunday. Tues will be 2-1. A mom ( dad-kev) can dream :)
My son is AECF. Not sure which one he wants more ET or AC. What is anyone elses son doing? -
