Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Missing My Little Girl :(
Wow! I did not realize how hard this separation would be, I think it's because we have no contact so we are left as Mom and Dads to wonder at how they are adjusting. Before this journey, my daughter had never even been on a plane, and had always been more of a homebody than most young ladies her age. In my heart I know she is fine, but the day I hear her voice again will have to be one of the happiest days of my life!
She was suppose to arrive in Chicago on 11/22, but the whole group missed their flight because they were running behind at the recruit office. They flew into Chicago on 11/23, does anyone know if this will change their PIR date?
BTW - this site has really helped me realize that there are a lot of Moms out there who feel exactly as I do.

Hang in there. My son has been in for one and half years. The growth in him has been amazing. You will have tears and an aching heart, and during BC ur daughter may send msgs of loneliness because it isn't easy. Just let her know you are there for her, supporting her, behind her every step. You will do that b/c that is what moms do. Write, and ask others to write, so she knows she has that support. You'll get through it. And we are here for you too.

I agree with Nancy Jo...BC was very tough for my sailor, but the growth she experienced...WOW!!! We went to visit her over the Thanksgiving holiday (she wanted to save her time up for Christmas and after A School) and it was like a completely different person. First of all, it's obvious that she's not a child any more. Second, she is so VERY polite!!!! I absolutely LOVE the changes that the Navy has instilled in her, and I'm sure the rest of you will too when you get to really visit with your sailors. Hang in there...my daughter is now about 1/2 way through A School and we skyped for almost an hour last night and I get text messages from her just about every day! It DOES get easier!!!

Hi Kaits Mom,
My Daughter Katelyn left on Nov 14th she is ship-11 Div-037 her PIR date is 1/13/2012
But I know how you feel it was very tough not having her home for the Holiday's
or just being able to pick up the phone and call her.
My son enlisted after 911 and it was hard when he left, But so much harder with my Daughter.
And the not knowing how they are holding up ect.
They are our little Girls and even tho they have grown up in our hearts they always will be just that!

I have heard a lot of people say that the future sailors come out much different than they went in. She has led a slightly shelters life, so I'm sure there are some lessons that she could learn.

Thanks for all of the encouraging post that I have recieved. I got the kid in a box today, really did not want to open it, hoped maybe she was stuffed in it. (haha) Anyway, it has really helped me by coming to this site and knowing I am not alone in the way I feel. I also am excited for my daughter, and so proud of the choices she has made in life.
Thanks again for helping me out today, I really needed it.

KaitsMom- Know your feeling about being sheltered. I too have a SR daughter at BC. So hard to sit back and not worry some about how they are surviving BC. Your not alone, lots of kind words around here :)

My daughter went to BC on Nov. 1st, the hardest part is not being able to pick up the phone and call or text her whenever I want. have been getting letters once a week, but so far only the I am here phone call. Can't wait to hear her voice again. Her first letters were very short and I could tell she was really homesick. The last letters we received she sounds like she is settling in and more comfortable with where she is. I think it is a big adjustment, but I believe it will shape her into a strong, independent person and am really excited about that. We get her for Christmas and she has PIR date of 1/6/12. Each day seems like an eternity. I don't remember being this excited about Christmas for a very long time. I can't wait.

Kaits Mom, we are in the same boat/ship lol. My Daughter left on the 15th she is in ship02/div 909, I miss her minute of every day. I will not tell you it gets easier, becuase I have not found that as of yet. Janurary cannot come soon enough. Know that we are all here to support each other through the good and bad times. I keep saying it will be over soon and then she will be in school with her phone and computer. I just think knowing she can have them in scool and knowing I will be can call will make her being away easier. Her PIR is 1.20.2012, 50 days left but hey whose counting.
