Our sailors will moving on to the 2nd phase of "Nuke" School. Indoc starts on Feb.9th and classes on the 13th. Since we will all be in the "same boat" together, I thought it will be nice to share our experiences.  Lets continue to support our sailors and each other!

I was ok for a day or two but we have tried to contact him for several days now and he isn't responding to texts, voice messages or skype messages.  I see he's online according to skype but he doesn't answer when I call.  So I am worried.  I hope I'm just being silly!  Sadly there were no pics of him from the graduation but he skyped me right afterwards when he was still in his blues and showed off his crows. We've skyped with him once since then and haven't heard from him since.  Keeping my fingers crossed that all is ok with him.

Shannon I know we arent aloud to use last names, but whats ur sons first name, maybe we can find out something through our boys.....Colin knows who Im talikng about usually with first names and were they are originally from.

Spencer, originally from CA.  I finally heard from him...he's fine.  Said he never got my messages and can't find his phone. sigh..some things never change.  Now I'm trying to light a fire under him to apply for his passport so we have a chance of spending Christmas together.

Glad u finally heard from Spencer! :) and yeah light a fire under that you know what!

I got bad news from my Nuke son Josh today. He isn't going to be able to come home for Christmass. They would not approve travel plans to go to Vegas to get his car and belongings and then come to MI in the 6 days of leave he was given. Too many driving hours in 6 days for the Navy. He was denied a seperate leave or an extension to the Christmass leave. I am so depressed and I lost it on the phone with him and started crying. I couldn't help it. My crying episode was brief and I composed myself and told him that we would have more opportunities in the future. Then when we got off the phone, I cried again. Other than  6 hours after boot camp, it has been a year. I miss my boy. I am not happy!

Oh Cindy, I am soooo sorry.  I haven't heard yet if I get to see mine.  I know exactly how you feel.  Can you go to him?  Poor baby, I'm crying for you AND your son...I know he is just as devastated, he just won't show it.  We are here for you.

Cindy so sad to hear this...I know u were sooo expecting him home. I think maybe u need a vacation...maybe to Goose Creek? So what is his plan? going to Vegas to get his car and belongings?

too bad he cant have that stuff shipped, I know it would be expensive.

No,   I cannot meet up with him. He is flying out and sort through the clothes and books. Pack up and start his drive back to GC the next day. I am hoping that maybe he will get approved for a visit in January or early February before they class up for Power School. Otherwise he will have no visits home until August. If he is denied, I guess I will have to plan a long weekend to GC.  There is none there to ship it for him. Someone would have to fly  there just to get it ready to be shipped and make the arrangements.  Plus it is very expensive! I would take vacation fly out there and drive it back my self but I don't know how to drive a stick shift. My husband doesn't have any vacation time and is not allowed time off work during the winter months anyhow. I guess I just stay hopeful. Thanks for letting me vent.

I just got word that my sailor passed his comps this morning so will be on T track next week.  Yeah.  He will get to come home for Christmas too so I am very excited.  We are heading to Goose Creek for graduation on Friday.

Hi hap, welcolme to T-tracks! Congratulations to your son on his comps. Enjoy the graduation ceremony. I hear it is short  but sweet! I wasn't able to make it but, some of my N4M friends were nice enough to take some pics for me :)  It looks like our sailors have a bit of a wait, Power School won't be starting until February. In the meantime, embrace all this time you get to have with him!

I have to ask, how did you pick your online name (haps)? Just curious.

It was my camp name years ago when I worked at a girl scout camp. The name sort of stuck and I still have friends that call me that. We are heading to grad in a few hours. Got into charleston last night and took our son and his 3 best friends out for dinner. It was great to see him and meet the guys he hangs out with on the weekends and has been studying with for the past 26 weeks. They were all smiles and so happy to be done with school for a while

Just visited our ET son for his 12/2 grad from A-school. With 4 classes graduating, they held the ceremony in the fieldhouse-type room at the Bowman Center instead of the more ceremonious room at the Rickover Center. Like others on this page have stated, sounds like he'll be waiting until Feb. before Power School starts up.

Didn't know about this forum until we returned from our visit. For those that haven't been there, someone posted some nicely captioned pics showing the exterior grounds at this Picassa link. Son says the Power School grad is held outdoors.

Hopefully, the long hold period will allow our sailors to get a giant "recharge" in preparation for PS. May all of you and yours have a wonderful and safe holiday season complete with a visit from one of those outstanding NNPTC citizens!
