I am hoping that she too can bond with someone. She has never been away from home this long and I never thought I would get a letter telling me she is so homesick and I think the injury is getting her down. She is a physically active person and loves PT but the injury may be setting her back. I wonder if it will change her grad date? I too hope we get a phone call soon. I have not met anyone else from her division. I wonder if any of the SR's have been getting phone calls. That is awesome that your daughter has some good friends now. Gives me hope that my daughter is making some friends as well. I am fortunate that I can go for Christmas. Probably would not have been able to do it any other time. I have heard that the adopt a sailor program works really well. Crossing my fingers for letters and phone calls.

Got my first real letter today ! So happy to hear from my SR. She says her bunk rack partner is awesome. So relieved to hear from her :)

I still have not received a letter...

So where is everyone staying for PIR ? I need to make a decision and wanted to know. I don't want to rent a car and drive in snow, so needs to be close to places to eat ect. and have a shuttle service to PIR. Want to go to the Meet and Greet also on Thursday night will any of you be attending?

Hi Leanne, We have not made reservatins yet. My friend stayed at the Residence Inn in Waukegan and recommended it to us. They have a meet and greet and close to base. I think there is a Super Wal Mart as well. Where is the meet and greet that you are referring to?

Ramada Inn . Is there more than one meet and greet?

Haha I meant Ramada. Ooops!!! Anyhow, I heard they do meet and greets at several hotels but I wasn't sure if their was one done somewhere for everyone.

Got my call !

OMG, that is so great. When did you get it? So excited for you. Maybe I will get a call soon. My mom got a letter dated December 4th and she is doing much better. She passed her Physical test and was so excited because she even beat the guys in sit ups. Her injury must be better. Can't wait for my call.

3:30 ish pacific time

Hooray! I got my call today I'm so happy. My daughter sounded upbeat she said she had passed her swim test. Keep in my mind she did not know to swim until 3 months ago. She took swimming lessons at our local fitness center. I'm soooooooo happy. I'm looking forward to PIR 1/13/12. We plan to drive from Texas. I pray the weather cooperates. Pray for us.

Arrangements made yesterday-staying at  LaQuinta in Gurnee. I hope to see you all at the Meet and Greet at the Ramada on Thursday night.
