I was like a little kid playing with the weather ticker!  Changing the time of day and from day to day, watching it rain then be sunny.

We've sent a bunch of letters too, still stalking the mail lady and getting nothing.  I need to put a birthday card in the mail this week since my SR's 18th birthday is on the 12th.  Since we can't give him a birthday or Christmas gift I opted to combine it with a graduation gift.  It feels so weird to miss the 18th bday milestone.  Every year starting with his 13th, we have his bday at Hawg Dawgs (local gourmet hotdog/biker bar restaurant).  Even when he worked there, we brought the cake to him to celebrate!  We may have to celebrate it at Hawg Dawgs for him.

I have sent a letter a day since the 19th.  My hubby sent 2, my youngest sent 1 and my oldest has sent 3.  I missed yesterday, because my printer needed an  update, and I didn't get it done until this morning.  I told him he had at least 20 letters enroute, and I thought I could hear some relief in his voice.  Maybe just me hoping, but it seemed like he was perked up by the news that we all hadn't just forgotten him!

Wheee!  It's official.  We have tickets, a room and a car.  We also have our oldest flying in from university to witness this proud moment in DJ's life.  Now I just need to pack the Costco pack of kleenex, cause I am going to loose it!  I don't know why my pride fills me up and leaks out my eyes, but oh man.

My granddaughter is on Ship 09-Div 043. Her Mom received the box and a short letter. No calls yet. Seems to be okay so far.

Welcome CB.  I don't think they are at the place where they can make calls yet.  Today may be the first day they get to write letters though.  I got a phone call because my son's banking info got lost.  Anyone going to make it to PIR?

We are absolutely going to be here CJ!  Tickets, room and car already arranged.  We are also going to Sarge's Meet and Greet.  We aren't flying in until Thursday afternoon with about enough time to get from Milwaukee to Great Lakes and check in before the M&G.  We aren't flying home until Monday, just in case.  The flights on Sunday were about $100 more than Monday so we opted to stay one more day.

CJ, hubby and I will be at PIR for sure! We are going to Sarge's Meet and Greet, as well. Since we're driving up, we plan to make it a little vacation, we'll see a few friends in Indiana, and hang around till Tuesday maybe. The best part about having friends to stay with is not having reservations or a schedule to keep!

My younger son wanted to go, but his college classes start back up again on Jan 18. He will be flying back down south that week from Indiana, where he has Christmas with his dad, then we have to get him back to campus, and head ourselves up north.

Reading all the moms' posts makes me get all teary already! Maybe if I have a good cry about Ben in the next month, I can get it out of my system...what do you think?

We are planning on going to PIR. We are still waiting for the first letter or maybe a phone call. We aren't sure when we will make reservations but it will be pretty soon. Nervous about making reservations then having something go wrong.

CB... I'm glad you found our group.  We will all be getting thru the next 46 days together so if you need any support, we are here.

Yes its Sunday, hope they can write letters today!  Welcome CB.  My husband and I will be at PIR.  Have plane to O'Hare, car and motel as of yesterday.  We plan to go to Sarges' meet and greet also.

Thanks. I am starting to get the hang of this site. I enjoy reading all of the tips....as we sure will need them. We are simple country folks and this all sounds so overwhelming. But this is about HER...not us so with all of your help we will get through this. We have never had a close family memeber in the military so this is very new to us.
