For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

My daughter leaves December 7th...anyone else?
This is my first experience with any type of military and my daughter is my first child to leave the house. Although this time is very exciting and I am very proud of my daughter's decision, I am still very anxious and saddened to see her go. I am feeling very ignorant to all things Navy, and this site is helping. It would be very nice to hear from others whose loved ones are departing on this same date.

Everywhere I look on this site, moms are talking about going to the airport to see their Sailor off, but my daughter's recruiter says we can't go, what is the deal with that?

My son is leaving on December 7th also! His recruiter is bringing him to MEPS tomorrow afternoon, where he will spend the night,, and take the bus to the airport on Wed. Dec. 7, 2011! This is also my first experience with the military. I share the same feelings you do.

We live fairly close to the MEPS, so we went to watch her being sworn in. Very nice, also a friend of hers drove to the airport, and was able to have security let her through to hang with her until her plane left for bootcamp. Depends on the airport I guess. I want to have you give ALL of your sons/daughters a word to the wise. They will be homesick during the first few weeks, it will be hard. BUT PLEASE tell them do NOT, and I repeat do NOT go see the "shink" while they are there. They will be offered that they can go talk to them. But, in MANY cases (if not almost all) it's a step in the direction for them to be sent home, as depressed or whatever. IF they need to talk to someone over issues they are having ask to speak to the chaplin or care counselor. My daughter actually made it all the way thru bootcamp, battlestations, and did PIR----3 days later she was seperated from the Navy. I think almost ALL divisions/ships lose a good number of kids. Her division started out with 87 kids ended up in the low 70's. So PLEASE tell them to be careful of what they say, and who they talk to. Things do get better, and my daughter was seeing light at the end of the tunnel. We were so proud of her when she graduated. She was looking forward to a career in the Navy. She actually had work thru things and was doing well. But, there are so many kids wanting to get in.
I want to wish your kids the best, tell them to stay strong, it will be ok.

I don't know what or why your recruiter would tell you that you can't go to the airport. We live in AZ just 20min West of Phoenix. Our daughter shipped out for BC on Nov. 22nd. Her recruiter picked her up @ 5am that morning & we met her @ MEPS around 9ish. She took her Oath @ 10ish. Didn't leave for airport until around 2ish. We went to airport, I was able to get an escort pass for me & my other daughter (my hubby didn't need one as he works for TSA). We all waited and watched her board her plane & watched it take off. I would ask the recruiter again because I don't understand why you wouldn't be able to go to airport, your SR will have to ride with the other's from MEPS to airport but you can go there. I would advise that you have your SR with you if you plan on getting an escort pass & let them know he's going to BC not just being stationed some where. You will get escort pass from airlines...most generally Southwest.

Hello , my son left for BC on Nov. 1 . He actually went with his recruiter to the airport where he flew to MEPS. He spent the night there - then flew out the next day after being sworn in. Basically they didn't really want us to go because it was just too much confusion. Prolonging the good bye !!! Which after all , it was hard enough to say good-bye .......so why prolong it !!! I hope you get to do what your most comfortable with and good luck to your daughter on this exciting and tough new adventure :):)
