Hi Kathy.  My Daniel also leaves on the 1st.   I have a friend whose son is now a sailor, July 2011, so she has told me many things.  This site is good though for info - "the box", phone calls, etc.   Right now I'm having trouble with his younger sister age 9.  It's just the 2 of them and she is really going to miss him to death!! She really didn't sleep much last night - kept coming into me....  We have a family dinner planned for tonight since he has plans in NYC tomorrow and they will come get him around 11 on Wed.  Def keep in touch since the boys will be there!

I will keep in touch!  My Daniel has two sisters, 18 and 15.  Our 15 year old is having a really hard time too, they are very close, a lot alike.  Heck I'm having a hard time.  I'm excited for him and the next chapter but am going to miss him like crazy!  He's become our friend too, not only our son.  We may not be able to see him at graduation :( My husband was laid off and things are really, really tight.  Used all our savings and not even a credit card to use for airfare... I'm praying something will change!  Anyway, I would love to keep in touch...what's your Daniel doing after BC?

"A" school in the Great Lakes and then gas turbine mech - I think...  he really wanted special ops but his eye site canned that.  He might see about surgery.   He is 19 and his sister is 9 - 10 years b/t them.  I'm having a rough time also but really don't want to let her see that!

Kathy - almost a week has past since our Daniel's left.  How are you doing??

I got an address for my boy today!!! So happy!!!  But also received his box today.... haven't opened it yet.........that might be difficult.  It's tough!  Gets a little easier but then I cry when I realize he's not coming home anytime soon...  What do I do with his stuff........ crazy hard!!!

You got his address already!!!  Yea for you!  I didn't think that would come for at least a few weeks!  Start those letters!  haha  I have 4 letters started on the computer that I will print out and send.  His sister has also started doing that.  I had a routine doctors appointment yesterday and told the doctor that has been Dan's md since birth that he left for the Navy last week - and of course I teared up - he had the nerve to ask if I was depressed!!  haha NO not depressed but sad I will not see him for a while.  He basically told me to get over it!  Not sure if I will be going back to him or not!

I don't think I will open the box for a while either - althought it might smell like him!

What div and ship is your Daniel???

I called the recruiter to get the address just today... :)

Ship 12 Div. 053

I had already thought his clothes will smell like him... It will make me happy, then sad.

I called Dan's recruiter yesterday to see if they would be getting his address and he said no.  how did the box come?  usps or ups?  Do you live close to Chicago?  We are in New Jersey!

I guess I will wait for the letter.

I am on the hunt for Navy Christmas ornament for the tree and can't find one!   I will get one for sure if it takes me from now until Christmas!  Haha

Talk soon - Mary Clare

I am not sure how the box came.......my hubby called to tell me it was there so I'll let you know when I see it.  We are in Washington State.......... pretty far.

I hadn't thought of an ornament....great idea!

The recruiter just went into a database and found him.... hhhmmmm... you'll get a letter soon!

Kathy
