We found out about the adopt a sailor, but our son didn't fill out the application, so it sounds like he will be spending Christmas on the base.  Chirstmas is going to be hard, heck, it is hard now.  I can't believe how weepy I am.  I need to get a grip.

Hi CDMom did your son tell you that he will stay on base.We are so far away that we are unable to see him for christmas due to going for graduation, but my son said they told him that he will be going somewhere to spend christmas that no one in this graduation date will be left out and stay on base.

Hi Michelle,  So glad they send all the recruits to civic Christmas Celebratons. We got to come to Great Lakes and take Caleb for the day.  We only live six to seven hours away, so we drove. My husband and I were both off this week anyway.   We stayed at the Springhill Marriott you recommended and it was very nice.  We are going to go to Sarge's meet and greet Jan 5, are you going to that one? We think they had battlestations 21 yesterday.

Well, they took Battle Stations 21.  Caleb called and he is offically a Sailor now.  We can't wait for graduation.  Where is your son taking A school?  We are going to Sarge's meet and greet, on Jan 5, so hope to see you there.

Hi Im glade the hotel is very nice.My younger son is very excited because of the indoor pool.Im glade you got to see your son.I got to talk to mine all together about 2 hours and seen lots of pictures from the church my son was also in the chicago suntimes paper so i called and ordered 5 of them for keepsake.and yes we are going to sarges meet n greet.Yes i got the phone call today too.ya he said he was very tired.my son will be going to A school in texas what about yours?what day are you going to be in chicago?

Hi Yes our son is also going to A School in San Antonio, TX.  How wonderful that your son was in the newspaper.  We missed the important phone call because my husband's phone only rang once and he didn't hear it.  I got a new phone from work so he doesn't have my number memorized.  I will be glad when they get their cell phones back.  Do you know how we could add someone to the PIR list?  HIs grandma wants to come. He didn't put her on the list because she hasn't been feeling well, but I know he would like her to come.  Also could you add me as a friend so we can stay in touch?  Have a Happy New Year Dale

It took about three business days to reach him and that was without the street address(I left it out when I gave it to my daughter)!!

As for address it was:

SR Name

Ship # DIV#

Recruit Training Command

Street Address

City/State/Zip

Hope this helps!

Thanks it does and someone just posted a link where you can find the format also.

We never got the 3 min phone call not sure why but there is always a reason - so we hope we get the letter soon even if it is 1 word!

Best wishes to you and your sailor!

Yes, my daughter's PIR date is 1/6/2012! She too is on ship12 div. 029. I got a letter from her yesterday and today, like an extra special treat today! She said in her letter today that she passed her PFA on Tuesday, she had been working very hard on her push ups, they seemed most difficult for her. When she called last week, she told me what day they were on so I have been keeping track daily. Today they are on day 4-3. Our family is planning on being at Sarge's meet and greet and would love to meet those on this site, can't wait!

I need to find out about Sarges meet and greet.  Can you give me any information.  So glad your daughter passed her PFA.  My son has passed his PST and is now training with the special forces candidates.  He wants to be a diver eventually.  He has been working very hard toward that goal.  So proud of him.

Yes, I'd too like to meet the others on this site.  My son graduates the same day.  We are planning on going to the meet and greet.  We missed Caleb's call because my husband didn't recognize the number and he was at work.  I'd just gotten a new cell so he didn't have my number memorized.  We were sick.  But we got three letters this week and he sounds good so that made up for it.  Do you know how much liberty leave they get?  Caleb leaves for San Antonio, Tx and another mom said Sarge told her they may  leave Saturday.  That means we would not have all weekend with him, which we were hoping.  We are so excited more for PRI than Christmas. Go Navy!

the call comes from an 847 area code.  A lot of the posts on here say that they get a longer leave after Aschool graduation. I am very fortunate that Heather is going to Aschool at great lakes, we will be able to visit her during that time and I believe she will be there for 27 to 32 weeks, so a long time for her to still be close enough to visit. We got our hotel reservation for the LaQuinta in Gurnee, but only for Thursday night so we can attend the meet and greet, and not have to drive back and forth for that and then so early on Fri. Now that I have a reservation, I feel that is is coming soon!
