I am staying there . we fly in on Jan12 at 9:15 pm so we will miss the meet and greet. Still trying to figure out to rent a car or not. I think we will, just so we can sight see hopefully after PIR.

we are coming in on the 12th in the afternoon so excited

Hello everybody! love this group and this page btw!

Is anyone is this group traveling to adopt their sailor for x-mas day? if so has anyone found a restaurant that's open this day? I been trying to make a reservation for dinner but most places are closed.

I would think atleast a couple would be open since the RTC is right there, but now you have me worried. I guess I will start looking now as well. I will let you know if I find anything.

ok well I'm gonna keep looking. I called one of the hotels on the booklet he sent and the lady said that the restaurant inside their hotel is closed but she was nice enough to let me know that a nearby Dunkin Donuts will be open! lmao funny thing is that this is his favorite place!! He's addicted to coffee.

In my son's first letter, the tone was very terse and he said it would be great if we were able to make it out there on Christmas day. I had already told my wife that we wouldn't be able to fly out there twice. She cried for two days after reading his letter. After talking to him in person and reading his latest letters, she's feeling much better about that situation. We'll remain home on Christmas.

its killing me i can't go a xmas ...and my SR kinda figured we would be home. he's ok with that.. I told him that he would have an AWESOME day.. i've seen pics of thanksgiving adopt a sailor.  Everyone will have a great christmas!!!  i feel better..

chinese food places are usually open

WOOOOOOHOOOOO!!! I didn't think I would, but I got a call tonight! He is doing so amazing! He was in dental all day yesterday and didn't get time to call. He was able to get a call out tonight and I seriously thought I was going to pass out when I saw 847 on my phone! He has been promoted once already and scored very high on his tests. He meets with an advisor tomorrow about A school placements. I am so excited to see him I can't stand it!! Better than Christmas morning!! YAY!!!

OMG AWESOME ..... my SR has been at dental SEVERAL times..  he called when he got out yesterday... i saw 847 and couldnt slide my phone to answer... i was freaking... but got it...  how'd he sound to you?? did he talk alot?? mine couldnt stop talking ... how long did you get to talk??  IM STILL FLOATING....YAY.. I KNOW BETTER THAN CHRISTMAS MORNING

Yes, he talked non-stop. :) He sounded AWESOME!! Very upbeat and positive. :) He loves his division, said his fellow SRs are really great. I was in Mass when he called (I knew I would be) but I jumped out of my pew and literally ran out to get the call. lol I am pretty sure I smiled in my sleep all night and can't wipe it off this morning either. It was freaking awesome hearing his voice. I am so HAPPY!!! We talked for about 25 minutes before the PO kicked him off. It was awesome!!!
YeeHaw!!!! ;)
