Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

This is all very hard as a Mother. But I still try to remember what all of our recruits are going through. Even though not being able to talk to my son is what is soooo hard. I did not know that a call is earned, how exactly does that work? Would love to talk to other Mom's who have been through this and are going through now! This site is so nice to have to talk to someone who feels the same way as me with their son or daughter away at Bootcamp. This site is new to me so I hope I am posting things right and learn all these new pages, haha:) Hope to hear from other Mom's:) Thank-you!!!

DeeMarie--I agree this is very hard. Watching my son walk down that hallway to get on the plane to fly to boot camp was the hardest thing I have ever done and was much harder on me than I thought it was going to be, but it does get better. I think some divisions earn phone calls based on doing good on an inspection, etc. but it is not guaranteed. The only calls when my son was in boot camp were the "I'm here" call the night he arrived at boot camp, the 3 week call, and the "I'm a sailor" call. The 3 week call was an hour long and if I'm correct, some divisions don't even get that, so count your blessings for every call you receive. It does get much better in A school however. They can have cell phones and computers, so I have got to talk to him or text with him quite a bit now. The box was not so hard on me because I received the box and the form letter on the same day. When he was in boot camp, I felt like I was addicted to Navy for Moms, especially the Boot Camp Moms page and his PIR group. It was almost like an obsession. Now that he is in A school, it is not so addictive, but I do check in with the HM page quite often. Good luck and hang in there!!

Jana(ship 09/ Div 279)- Thank-you so much for the reply, I actually got a letter from my son today, I was soooo Happy. He actually sounds very good and they were assigned jobs. He didn't say anything about a call though, maybe when he gets my letter I just sent he can let me know something. Gosh, an hour long phone call, I would love that:) Oh, not to sound dumb, but what is the PIR group? Is that the after graduation group? Thank-you so much again, and for the support! Hope your son is doing well in school:)

PIR stands for Pass in Review...another name for boot camp graduation. Have you gotten the form letter yet? It should have the PIR date in there. Look on the Boot Camp Moms group and someone will probably post the link for that PIR's date discussion group or you can search for it and then you can join it. And yes, he is doing very well...top 10% of his class. Thanks for the good wishes and good luck!!

Hi DeeMarie - Welcome and congratulations on having a son who wants to serve our country. You will hear a lot that it does get better and it totally does. Once you get his PIR date and start planning the trip out to see him graduate the time just flies! You will learn that nothing in the Navy - especially in boot camp is guaranteed. You will get your "I'm here" call and you will get the "I'm a Sailor" call when he passes Battlestations. In between those (the first day and the last week) you never know how many calls you'll get. Most divisions get to make one around week 3 or 4 to let you know that everything is ok. However if the division isn't working well together or taking a lot of hits on doing things properly their RDC may revoke that privledge. My son left in September and just graduated November 23. I was lucky and got a call at 3 weeks and around 6 weeks. Both lasted about 15-20 minutes. I loved getting letters - once they start rolling in around the 3rd week that he was gone I haunted my mailbox. Wednesday was my boot camp letter day - so it became my favorite day. Don't worry. You will get the hang of everything and there is a ton of information on this site. Just look around. The main forum on the Boot Camp Moms page is always chatting. Once you get his letter with his PIR date in it you can join your PIR group and get to know lots of moms who have sons and daughter's in your son's division and training group. I met so many new friends through my PIR group and we were all so excited to meet up in person at PIR. Just know that you aren't alone. All of us who have kids who have left have felt the same - so don't be a stranger!

Hi Jenn (ship 12 Div 007) - Thank-you so much for the reply and support, this is so nice to have this for Moms!!! I just asked someone else in a reply what PIR was. I do have that date so do I just search for PIR date on here? Thank-you for the help:) Congratulations on your sons Graduation, Bless him also:) I was so happy today, when I went to the mailbox, I got a letter!!!!! He really does sound good and that makes me feel soooo much better!!! he was telling about getting assigned a job, and having to study for a test. Gosh they are so busy, which is a good thing right? :) I am seeing about "haunting" the mailbox, I totally agree with that, haha!!! Well thank-you again, and would love to hear from you soon:)

DeeMarie - It is a VERY good thing that they are busy. I remember at my son's swearing in at MEPS - after the guy had them take the oath he took some time to talk to the guys who were shipping that day and tle them that they would be really busy but to remember their families and friends were thinking about them every day, so as soon as they get a chance to write be sure to spend a little time writing because we on the outside just don't realize how busy they do keep them. Did you find your PIR group? It should be listed under PIR and then the date and probably will include the divisions that are part of his training group. Let me know if you need any help. And Sethsmom's suggestion about joining the RTC facebook page (if you have a facebook account) is a good one. That site is always hopping. Lots of info - although you will find the more you are here the more you know and lots of the questions that get asked on the FB page you will already have the answer to - but it's another way to feel connected.
