Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

CHRISTMAS ADOPT-A-SAILOR PROGRAM 2011

Thanksgiving & Christmas Adopt-A-Sailor programs 2011

Each year, RTC coordinates the Thanksgiving and Christmas Adopt-A-Sailor programs for a select group of recruits. This year's Thanksgiving program on Nov. 24, 2011 is for those recruits who will graduate Dec. 2 and Dec. 16 (Training Groups 3 & 5) and the Christmas program on Dec. 25 is for those recruits who will graduate Jan. 6 & 13 (Training Groups 7 & 8) as they are the senior divisions who will graduate the week and two weeks following the holidays.

These recruits will be given the opportunity to send home information and the necessary form that must be completed and faxed back to the Public Affairs Office. Only your recruit may send the information and only one form per recruit will permitted. Do not call our office for a form or additional forms; you will need to contact your recruit to request the information if you have not received any. All Thanksgiving forms must be received by our office by the close of business Nov. 21, 2011 and Christmas forms must be return to our office by Dec. 19, 2011.

Do not expect your recruit to be available for adoption if you do not communicate with our office prior to Nov. 21 or Dec. 19. Do not "surprise" your recruit by showing up to adopt him/her without informing your recruit beforehand.

On Thanksgiving morning, immediate family members only (mother, father, sister, brother, uncle, aunt, grandparent, spouse or cousin) will be allowed to pick up their recruits and take them off base to spend the day with them. They must be back in their ship (barracks) by 8 p.m. The recruits must remain within 50 miles of the base and no exceptions will be made.

Those recruits in Training Group 3 & 5 or 7 & 8 who will not be spending the day with families will be adopted by local civic organizations such as VFWs, American Legions, churches, etc. These generous organizations adopt anywhere from 10 to 150 recruits. They take the recruits to their organizations where the recruits spend the day feasting, playing video games, watching movies, having access to phones to call loved ones, play sports and simply relax and enjoy the company of the organizations. Many of these organizations hold fundraisers to be able to provide the recruits with a complete, traditional holiday meal. No recruits in Training Groups 3 & 5 or 7 & 8 will be left behind.

Picking up our SR and buddy on 12/25.   Reservations for Brunch at Country Squire, then heading to hotel.  Did not want to waste our time driving home and back, figured the visit is short enough!  Does anyone have any suggestions for another place to eat, I have heard good things about Country Squire, just seeing if anyone out there has heard of anywhere else.  Also I know they can not take anything back on base, does this mean NOTHING?  cookies or candy canes or anything?  I was thinking of a big box of candy canes for everyone in his division.

Yes I believe they can take nothing back. It would not be wise as it would draw undue attention to them.

The only things they can take back with them are "approved" items that they are able to have with them at RTC now as recruits.  Such as an all black wrist watch, religious medal not larger than their dog tags, etc.

Staying at Marriott suites, I the renaissance inn. Booked a 2 bedroom so we have room. Our younger son will have a bedroom, husband and I will have one and SR fiance will have the pullout.

My husband called the visitors bureau in great lakes, and this is what they sent him for open restuarants:

I have attached the list of restaurants that I have been informed of in Lake County. I also heard of one in Cook County that is open 11am-9pm both Christmas Eve and Day called Jimmy’s Charhouse. It is located at 2290 Point Blvd., Elgin, IL  60123. There phone number is 847-783-0200.

 

As for the ones in Lake County, Country Squire in Grayslake is very nice and so is David’s Bistro in Antioch.

Country Squire just called me, I had a buffet reservation at 11, They have cancelled the buffet and have just restaurant seating! UGGGG really,
