For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

January 5th my son leaves for GL, anyone else at that time?
29 days and counting....I have started the "getting teary" when I think about him leaving phase. He seems pretty relaxed about it although he spends every waking moment with his friends that he has known since kindergarten. And he's keeping his room clean! What's up with that!!!!

My son leaves Jan 5th also...We are very excited about the boot camp thing. It is only for a short time...he is going to learn so much! I am very proud of him. That is how I look at it - it keeps me more centered! I know it will be harder when it gets closer but he is sooooo excited that I can't really be sad. I will sure miss him but it is a great thing, the right thing for him. Anyway, where is your son going to A school after boot?

He will be heading to Pensicola, FL, the complete opposite end of the country from me. We are in Maine! My son is excited to, but quiet about it. Spending most of his waking moments with all his friends now while he waits to leave! He is my baby, so it's a little hard on me, have my sad moments but I know it's what he wants to do. He is hoping to get into Rescue Diving at some point, that's the career path he is hoping for anyway. My son's name is Eric. And where is your son going?

Chris will be going to Connecticut. We live in Wisconsin. Chris qualified for Air rescue swimmer at the beginning of summer but then failed two physical agilities (barely, but a fail is a fail) and was pulled from the program...probably had something to do with him not maintaining a workout regimen (you know, the superman ideals...) but then again, I am only the mom and I don't know everything! lol! Chris is spending all time working and hanging with his girlfriend. His basic training dates have been changed 5? times now? He had the initial one when he signed up, then qualified for the air rescue: new date, then disqualified: new date, then a possible opening to go sooner: new date, then they withdrew: back to old date, and yesterday they offered him a Dec 12 leave date. He said NO WAY! He told them that he had had enough. So we are actually excited to see him go - it has been like a roller coaster!

Good grief! Eric has had the same date since he signed back before he graduated from HS!! It's been a long wait. I just kept praying he would "keep his nose clean" till he leaves!!

My 18 year old son left on Jan 5 as well out of Columbus, OH. His flight was at 4:30 and I received my phone call around 9:15 that night. That evening and the following few days were very hard. I have another son, 14. Last night, my son and I watched BC videos. Now his brother knows what he is doing. I am just so proud of my son and what he is doing and will be doing. This is all he has ever wanted. When he was a kid, he would turn on the History channel over cartoons. That's just the way he has rolled. I have never had any military in my family till now. All of this is new to me. They may be together. I have been writing him everyday. Last night kinda wrote a BCS narrative and what is happening here in our town. I am waiting for the "box" and the letter with the address. I am glad I have this site to follow moms in the same "ship". On 1-5-2012 at the USO in the Columbus airport, I helped myself to a bite size Hershey bar and a filling came out. So in the midst of my boo hoo's, I had severe tooth pain. I see the dentist this am. I know I have a raised a sailor with core values and the Navy will make him into the man! Lisa, Dayton, Ohio.

I just got my "box". Boo Hoo. I thought it was a filling on the tooth but the tooth cracked in half. So then I had to go to an oral surgeon. Yuck.

My son left for GL out of San Diego on 1/5 also. I received his box today. A melancholy day. I'm so proud of him and can't wait for the first letter. This site is so helpful! I had no idea what to expect or how I could get his div number so I can start writing him. Looks like I'll have to be patient and send his letters the day I receive his.

I received my "boy in a box" yesterday as well. I got a little teary but not too bad. I can't believe they even sent his toothbrush back. His new phone, etc. Even his contacts came back in their little case. He could have just tossed those! I got his address the day after he left from his recruiter. Between myself, his brother and sister, dad and girlfriend he will be reading letters all day on Sunday!!!

His recruiter gave it to me. I had sent him an email saying that Eric had arrived safe and I got my phonecall (mine was 23 seconds). I told him that I alreadyhad a letter ready to go just needed Eric to send me his address and when he replied he put Eric's address too!!!
