Our letter came in yesterday! Glad to hear from our SR, but was a little disappointed to learn he wasn't on the Dec 16th PIR schedule. We received "the box" last week, it wasn't as hard as I thought it would of been. I think following the day by day boot camp activities has helped me deal with him leaving. I read it everyday 3-4 times, I guess you can say its therapeutic.

My son is going to A (sub) school in New London, CT following graduation. Unfortunately, he does not know when he is departing Great Lakes.  Anyone have any info on that?

So, is his PIR 12/29? If so, is he declining the opportunity to take leave?

I think they depart RTC the next day...your son will get his orders and it will tell him exactly when his plane leaves for his A school. You will probably be able to see him after graduation until liberty ends in the evening. Then some people go to the airport and sit with their sailor until he leaves the airport.  Our son is not taking leave and going directly to A school in Great Lakes. We hope to be able to see him after he checks into A school. We will stay in Great Lakes until Monday. Is your son taking leave?

yes he is going to take leave following A school.

My son got to call home last night, he answered some quiz question right and got a 15 minute phone call home! It was a great surprise, it came on my birthday. What a great gift. He said the ship is doing well, and they now have 7 flags. He also said they've been talking about a pizza party, he's hoping that happens.
Thank you so much for the update! I am so happy you got to speak to him..happy birthday!!!

That is really good news. Thank you so much for sharing it with us. It has been quite a while since I have heard from my son.

For sure...Thanks Lonna for the update and what a wonderful birthday gift for you!

That is awesome Lonna!!!  Happy belated birthday and THANK YOU for the additional info on ship 09 / div 023 - sounds like they are doing great!

Concerned, my son said he would get to call today as it was Battle Stations day.  I have not heard from him.  Looking at sleepless nights until I hear from him.

I heard that they will be calling on Monday afternoon. I think Battle Stations runs all night tonight. I am praying for the guys. I hope you get some sleep & me too. :)

Thank you this will help so I get some sleep.  My son had told me he would be calling today and we have been waiting next to the phone all day.
