While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

SON LEAVING MONDAY FOR BOOTCAMP
My son leaves for bootcamp on Monday. He was originally scheduled for December 20th. Before Christmas, but close enough that we could have had an early Christmas and it would have felt like it. We were only told a couple weeks ago that they would be moving up the date and then only yesterday that it would be Monday. I keep crying like a little baby. It seems so silly because it isn't like he'll be gone forever. My husband and younger son think I'm silly for crying, but I can't seem to help myself. Are there any other mothers out there struggling with this?
They say it's empty nest, but I still have my younger son around. I guess I just worry how my older son will handle bootcamp. He made this choice all on his own and we support him completely and are extremely proud of him. He keeps counting down the days and telling me to see my reaction I think. I have tried not to cry around him even though he knows I will come Monday.
I would appreciate hearing from any mothers who have been there or are there now.

I'm very sorry to hear about the cancer, but send my prayers to you for your complete recovery. I put this discussion up because I was so sad to see my son go and was totally surprised at the number of responses I received...almost 200. As the days go by, it is getting easier, but I try not to think too hard on his not being here. It seems like I'm so busy right now, I don't have time to cry. I got his address last night in the mail and sent two long letters and a card for Christmas today. I think the hardest part is worrying about how they are adjusting and not being able to hear from them at all as to how they are coping. It is hard to let them grow up without our help. This is forcing both him and me to let him grow into a man. Well, I wish you a wonderful holiday. Best wishes to your daughter and family.

My son left on Nov.22,times does by very quickly just keep busy..And write those letters(They live for them)..When u see him graduate it will be all worth it....I am very proud mom for sure!

My son left Dec 1st. The next few days were kept busy between work and cleaning out my son's room and washing mountains of his clothes then my cousin came from out of state for a week. It's been hitting me very hard since, I wasn't expecting it to be such an emotional rollercoaster. Silly me! His birthday is next week and I expect that will be an extra tough day. I cannot wait to hear and see him again! Anyone else from the Palm Harbor area? My son's PIR is 02/03/12 and he is in Ship 12 Div 054.

You hit the nail on the head when you said that I wasn't expecting to be such an emotional rollercoaster. I havn't received the letter yet, but I think my son's PIR will be the same. Our kids must be there, together.

My son left the 12th. I am wondering if my son's PIR date will be 2/3/12? Or the week after? My son was able to celebrate his birthday at home. Nice for us. But had to celebrate Christmas early.
Does anyone know how many tickets each recruit gets for graduation? I would really like to know. we have plans for grandparents and blended family members to go. I heard 4-5, and that there is an overflow room.can anyone out there answer this? Thank you thank you:)

The only get 4 and it isn't physical tickets, but 4 names submitted to security by the recruit. This was also reflected in the standard letter you will receive. Per the one website, others can come and wait in the visitor center to see if there might be seats available. I'm sure they get in based on their arrival and probably a list. You cannot ask anyone else to put names down for you.

Our son's PIR is 2/3/12 also, but he is in Ship 12 Div 057. We are from the Camp Hill area.

My son arrived at BC last nite got my last call for a few week at 1:51am. I'm so thankful he got there safe but now starts the wait for his box and letter.

My son left on the 12th and it has been a roller coaster. I hope you are feeling stronger now. I found that the dread of him leaving was much worse than having him gone now. We have stopped just breaking down into tears.. but he is constantly on our minds. I completely understand your feelings... I also have a younger child at home.
