Aw man!!!! I hate to hear that:(  My hubby said that he did need to work on make his racks better?  Aw..poor guys.  I am so sorry to hear that about your sonl....that really sucks big time:(  Hope he gets to feeling better soon!!!

Good morning all....the letters my son Brian has written don't let on much to the "immature ones" in the division, only that if one gets in trouble they all do...there's been a few sessions of IT as a result.  Luckily for him he's been a long-distance runner for years and is in as good shape as could be so the IT hasn't affected him too negatively.  He said the RDCs are tough but good, one had a hall of fame division last year and the others are also goal oriented so as long as the guys follow the rules I"m sure they'll be okay  =)   He also said that Sundays are the only days he is able to write letters and that he has gone back to attending church so apparently there is time to do both.  He asked that I send him envelopes, paper and extra stamps which I did, I also sent him a large envelope so he could mail back any cards and letters he'd like to keep which will allow for more space in his personal storage area.  I wonder if any of our SRs have gotten to be friendly with each other...I think they only know each other's last names right now.  Brian said his bunk mate is from Japan and the guys in the bunks close to him are from NH, KY, CA and Russia.

I really hope the kids are really trying to learn about each other and think about how to be there for each other. It really bothers me that some kids are goofing around and all of the kids are getting into trouble. It makes me want to be a stronger teacher to make sure kids are good to each other and just encourage each other. I am going to Pray long and hard for our kids to be good to each other. I love working with kids and families to help them understand, value and respect each other  and themselves.

I talked with my ex husband yesterday and found out that my son is not going to be able to do the job he went in under because he is color blind. I have been praying for him because he was so excited that he got the job he wanted and he waited so long for a position in that field to open. He did say that my son was not too upset and was looking in to another job. So, I guess I will hold on and find out what that will be and where he will be going to A school since I am sure that will change now. I am very thankful that he was a workout freak for the last 3 years so he loves the IT. Actually, he loves the results from the IT. He was always so skinny and little and then when he graduated from high school he started an intense workout. He gained 60 pounds and then toned up and muscled up and got 30 of it back off. He was also very good with encouraging others he worked out with so I am hoping he is doing the same at bc. He would get workout and diet plans together for friends and relatives and loved it.

Hoping still for a phone call soon. Hope you all get some peace through prayers answered. I will continue to pray for all of the young men and look forward to meeting you ALL real soon.

i got 2 letters from kyle yesterday Yay!! he sounded better he said he passed both swim test and physical test ,and he had to have a root canal and said it hurt so bad:(  he said "hey mom i have some news for you, the rdcs were looking for strong people and people who passed the fitness test and had great bearing for a job called ship staff, these are people who walk the whole buildingclean and stand and watch and salute officers like admirals and all the high rank people iton one of the most important jobs only a few get selected because its challenging and you have to have the good military bearing, well i got picked by the rdcs to do the job they only choose a few people from each division in the ship! and doing that job you get more freedom and respect from the rcds thank god! "  that was in his wording.  Im proud of him :)  he also said the best part of basic is the food its amazing steak, ribs, fish and all kinds of pies lol   he said they get up at 2am and iron clothes and shine boots, thats crazy!!    im so glad he sounds better then his first letter.    I love this sight,it really helps me get thru the days knowing there are other mothers and wives who are going thru the same thing as i am.  have a great day and hope all the boys are doing awesome

Hello Ladies,

I got a letter from my SR yesterday and cried like a baby! I miss him so much. Here are a few things he told me about their division.

They had their first personal inspection and bunk inspection on Saturday, my SR passed, but the division failed. Because of this, they were awarded an hour of in house PT. Their first written test was Tuesday.

He said that when he got there he got two shots in his left arm, one in his right and one in his bottom. The last one hurt for 3 days. The same night after the shots they had to march across base to their new ship. It hurt.

They have 12 minutes per 40 people to shower, and only 12 shower heads. He says that that is too many naked men in too little space, so he looks forward to a shower with privacy.

Reville (wake up) is at 0600 and they get 15 minutes to put on the uniform for the day and make their beds. They go to breakfast at 0640 and get 20 minutes to eat.

He is doing well with the PT and passed his 1.5 mile with time to spare. He said that there are a lot of people in their division in worse shape than him, so he doesn't get called out during PT. I am thankful for this!

He sleeps 4 to 5 hours a night, but he was optomistic that it was better than nothing. It is hard to stay awake during class, so many stand in the back of the room to help not to fall asleep.

The food is good, and they have to eat in silence, which he actually likes because it feels like a break after such a long day.

He has become friends with a few guys and has gotten to know a bit about their lives back home. I am thankful that he doesn't feel so alone now that he has some friends.

He said that the instructors are okay, but they yell a lot because people don't listen. When they do what they are supposed to the instructors are nice and even joke around a bit.

The beds are nice and hard, but he is just thankful to be laying down at the end of the day, so he falls right to sleep.

The only thing they get to do outside is march, so he feels a bit closed in. He saw out a window Saturday that they got snow and wished he could go outside.

He also has a big blister because of marching in new boots. He is also getting his wisdom teeth out. UGH...

The uniforms are comfy but they stink to fold. There is a certain way to do everything and it is never the easy way. It seems like the simple things have complicated instructions. He looks forward to wearing boxers again when this is over.

His favorite part is getting to know the people there. They are from all over the country and have many different backgrounds. They range from 18 to 35 in age. The worst thing is PT and lack of sleep.

He included two more pages of sentimental things for me and our children to read. He is such a great husband and father! I love him, and am in love with him!

Have a good day ladies, Tonya

I received three letters today!!!!! Two for me and one for my son (so sweet)!!!! Hubby said that they had an inspection and the Divison as a whole failed.  I really wish that they would all come together as a Divison...there is no need for fooling around up there.  The RDCs are not joking and they mean business and its not fair to the SRs who are really trying with all that they've got.  I hope that the ones who need to get it together...do so. He said that he had two root canals and a wisdom tooth pulled and he has to have fill ins.  He joked with me that I've never had a cavity and he's hating on me right now, lol.  He seems to be in good spirits...he misses my son and me a lot.  I told him to hang in there tough and strong and focus.  Hopefully the Divison as a whole will come together and progress positively.  I told him that I had made friends with you ladies and how that has really helped me get through the Christmas holiday:)))) Have a great day ladies!!!!

I got a call!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so excited:))))))

Congrats...

It was around 5 o clock maybe.  I just remember looking down at the incoming call and seeing that 847 area code and I knew it was him:))) And it was!!!! He told  me that the Divison is trying to get it together and they had the swim test and he passed.  He also said that he had two root canals and wisdom teeth pulled?  Ouch:(((  He was sad because he misses being home...but I told to hang in there tough and keep to the path.  He says that the Divison is trying to really work on the "team work" aspect of everything...so hopefully they will.  I am so glad that I got a phone call...I havent heard his voice since the first one he made when he first got there.

Seawitch I got a call too! Did nobody else get one?

He said that he was at the nex and got to call....it was so funny cause my hubby and I both have been jumping for the phone for the past couple of weeks and tonight I had a severe migraine after work so I was laying down my mom had called to tell me what all he had wrote in her letter.

Then the phone rang I couldn't move and my hubby just sat there. For no reason at all I gave him the "look" and said "what are you doing answer the phone that could be him" then (my caller id anouces outloud) before he could get up it said "call from...payphone" wow I have never moved so fast with a migraine before!

Since I was still on the phone with my mom I just put her on speaker and he called the home phone and had him on speaker so she got to listen and visit too.

I honestly am sick about the fact that I didn't feel better cause I wasn't on my game I couldn't find a pen or paper and I know he gave me alot of info. One thing I remember he said he made a 5? in all areas of the bunk inspection.

He said they haven't gotten the flag yet but that when they do it will have an "S" on it & I can't remember what colors he said.

I am tellin you ladies right up front my memory is worth a hoot well it just flat out sux!  Oh yea that reminds me he said that he did cry the first week that he was there a couple of times. (He has totally been sugarcoating his thoughts and feelings because someone keeps telling him I am having a rough time and he dosen't want me to worry) I think he finally is starting to listen to me and not them. As I think of more I promise I will post!

Oh yea he said the Friday will be week 3 day 1 then he started to explain all that to me and I told him I got it cause I didn't wanna waste our talk time and I already knew kind of what the deal was with that anywho Fridays are their first day of the week!

Good to hear they are on track, going into week 3.  Hearing about the IT's and "imature" guys, was really worring me.

Sorry to hear about your migraine.  I hope the phone call helped ease your pain.
