It's been three weeks since my son left fo basic. When we received th graduation info he wrote that he wouldn't be writing as much which really made me worry about him so I decided I would write him everyday. I finally received a letter yesterday but this time his attitude was a little differnent. He told me that he is at his lowest point ever in life right now but his motivated. As a mom that isn't something you want to hear from your child. I realized that this is the process in which the military breaks you down to build you back up. However, it's still not the easiest thing to have to think that your child is having to endore. I wrote back tell him that he's a strong young man and that God doesn't give us more than we can bear. I pray for all of the young men that are struggling as they try to better understand the journey that they have embarked upon.

Sorry that your son is at such a low point. Maybe the next letter will be better. They say that the first 3 weeks are the toughest. Thanks for praying for all of the recruits. I'm praying, too. I keep telling myself that thousands make it through every year and they will also. They will be so proud when they finish.
I don't let my son know how much it bothers me. I realize the low point is apart of the process to break them down to build them back up. I try not to think about it as much and know that there is light at the end of the tunnel. I write him every day to help motivate him. He will be find because he's a tough guy plus he has a strong mother as well :).
