I did some snooping around and found my Emergency adoptee on facebook today.  I let him know that he could be expecting a pkg.  He ended up "friending" me and we were actually able to chat for a few moments.  He was so thankful for the support of all of us back home and said how important it is to them.  He seems like a very nice kid...kept calling me "ma'am."  Loved that!!! No one calls me that, certainly not my own kids, lol!

On another note, last week I found another sailor on FB whom I just sent a box to.  I sent him a message asking if he had any special requests or likes, but never heard back from him.  Today I went back to his page and it is locked up tighter than a drum!   I guess I scared him off!!!  Oh, well. The box is on it's way and hopefully he won't toss it overboard :)

Ahhh....good idea mombyheart!  I will do the same!  Would be nice to send some things that they need or want!!

Thanks!

My package left yesterday. I asked  my adoptee if there were any special things he needed so will see if I hear back. I sent a small priority box that was so full, I couldn't have crammed anything else in it if I had to.

I bought some nuts and took them of of the can, put them in a ziplock  with the label from the can stuck inside the bag. I hope that's an OK way to send things.

Momof3, It's all good!!!!

Package in mail today to my adopted soldier!  I sent my e-mail in with a short note.  Last eve at our VFW Ladies Auxiliary meeting, I was telling them about our adoption.  Our Jr. Vice President (who has been in the Auxiliary 50 years), stood up and said we needed to help out!  So, next month (January 10th, our next meeting), all the ladies are going to bring things for "my" soldier!!!  Yippee!!!

:)  SUPER YankeeMom :)

I was going to do the same thing.....When things calm down around here, with my surgery, right before Christmas, and relatives coming to stay with me.....WOAH!!!  I was going to send my adoptee a nice BIG package with lot's of goodies!!!

AWESOME!  I hope your surgery goes well and your relatives bring lots of food so you don't have to do all the cookin!!!

My adopted "recruit" at Boot Camp has received my cards....got note from his Mom!  So, hope my adopted "soldier" receives his goodie box!!!

Yankee's Mom!  That's the good part @my house.....I don't have to cook EVER!!  My hubbie does it all ;)

And with me being "laid up" "In pain"....he's doing all the cleaning too! hehehehehe...how long can I "milk" this one???? ;)

(Actually, I'm not faking...I AM in pain though) :(

But my sister & her hubbie stayed last night, which was a surprise for me! They usually leave early on Christmas day to go back home!!  So I'm a happy girl :)  It will be like the Christmas she hasn't had in awhile....since my "little guy" is still little enough to open a bunch of presents!!! ;)  YEA FOR ME!!!

My army boy for this adoption got his box on Friday.  He said lots of the boxes are coming in  =]

Thanks for that info. It's good to know they're getting there.

Terrific! Thanks for sharing!
