OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

My son called while I was at work today. He got to talk to his dad for the first time since he left for Great Lakes so that's good. (I've caught the other two calls.) He says that his Division is on track to make it into the Hall of Fame. I don't know what that is but it sounds good! What sounds even better is that he is really excited about it and putting out maximum effort. This is the boy whose major goal in high school seemed to be to figure out how to do as little as possible and still squeek by. Or I should say this was the boy. He always was a great kid except for that one flaw. I knew there was a really good man waiting to emerge. Looks like I get to meet that young man in less than 3 weeks!!! I hope I can still see that boy from time to time though. I'd miss him if he was completely gone. And who would kill all the X-box zombies in the world?

I am very proud of our ship 02/Div 908 they are all working so hard ! I miss my Sr very much especially tonight and tomorrow : ( I hope what ever they do to make the day special tomorrow he enjoys it.

Well it was finally my turn for the phone call. I had gone to the grocery store and forgotten my phone and of course that's when he called :-( its a good thing they get to call tomorrow or I would be going crazy right now.

Heard from Alex at a church in Bristol, WI. He was the most relaxed I'd heard his voice on any call!! I don't know the name of the church, but whichever the church, thank you for taking care of our recruits for Christmas!!

My SR was at the same church. It was called Bristol United Methodist Church.. who unfortunately didn't seem to take any pictures :( BUT for those who have SR's in the Honor Guard, check in graduation pictures starting this week, they actually perform 2 weeks prior to their graduation. Scott said everything was going alright. I was so happy to get a call yesterday AND two today! Only 18 more days!!

Lol awesome! Scott is actually his first name but yep I write to my sweetie everyday. That's the one major thing he asked me to do while he was gone. I'm so excited to see him soon. We might get lucky and see some pictures this weekend since they are in the honor guard!

We were lucky enough to be able to spend time with our SR on Christmas Day for about 10 hrs. What an amazing difference I see in my son from the teenager who left less than 2 months ago--he has gained some weight, has military bearing, alot of pride, sense of duty, a "glow" and a new drive. Everything he did and said just blew me away. He says their Div is doing very well. They have lots of things to do in the next couple of weeks . . .gas chamber, weapons turnover, final PFA, a couple ceremonies, fire fighting and written test. They may make it to the Hall of Fame, which is something he is very hopeful for. He said that someone sent brownies, and instead of being "beat"--they all got a bite because their RDCs are starting to like them a little more. But he said don't try sending anything, because you never know. It sounds like the staff at the RTC is top notch and I can't wait to thank them for taking everything I've taught my SR for the last 18 years and bringing it all together--in this man that I could not be more proud of. Hooah Navy!

Char, my son pretty much said the same thing, I was truly amazed what a man he has become also. Now I know how my parents felt when I came home from bootcamp.

My son tells me that he will not be on the floor at PIR, that his job is to be at a specific door that the VIPs enter through. Anyone know any more about this?

From what I remember at boot camp, VIP's enter through the actual quarterdeck of the building. It's very pretty, I was only allowed to walk through there a few times and it was very formally done. If he is in there, you won't actually be able to walk up and see him. It's an enterence at the back of the drill hall BUT last time I was there, I was in boot so I don't know if that's also where everyone else would enter or if they get the side door treatment.

But, he wont be part of the ceremony at his own PIR? That doesn't seem fair to me. I don't understand.
