Has anyone recieved a REAL letter? I am kinda stressing here!

No, I haven't. When I got a short phone call on Tuesday (i had to send him some paperwork) my husband said they didn't get any time to write letters yet but they will most likely be getting time to write this Sunday.

That's the way it was when my first son went through - they get mail all week but only have a limited time to write back on Sundays. You will send a lot more letters than you receive!

I haven't rec'vd a real letter either and I'm kind of bummed about that--but I understand. Maybe a phone call tomorrow for Christmas? That would be even better.

Hi BeccaRod! Nice to meet you.

Hello and Merry Christmas to you all! My son is in this div/ship as well. He will also be heading to Groton. This is a very new experience for our family and I know these conversations will be so helpful to me! I am looking forward to a letter and/or phone call as well...I pray this is a good day for all of our recruits!

I just sent friend requests to everyone who has posted on here from good ol' Div 066 so far. I'd like to find out more about your recruits so I can see if my son knows them. I would assume they all get pretty tight going through this together. Hope I got the daughter, son or husband part right for everyone in the message I sent with the request!

I just sent friend requests as well!

My son is in your division and ship. Hi! Everyone!

Hi N Shell! Hope you had a nice holiday. What is your sons rating(job) after he gets out of basic? Looking forward to getting to know you!

Hi Hope! My son's rating is advanced electronics. Did you say that was your son's rating as well? Christmas was wonderful! My brothers, sister, nieces and nephews were all here! I kept hoping my son would be allowed to call home. You should have seen me running to the phone every time it rang! He is my only child. I see you are going to experience the empty nest thing too! Do you know if the 3 week call will land exactly to the day or not? Thank you! Just edited my profile I'm Ellen now!

Yes it is - on a sub. Is your son heading to Groton after boot camp? I am not expecting a call at any specific time. I think a lot has to do with how well they are working together and if they are meeting all the goals set . Just sometime in that general time frame. I made my son recite our home number and cell numbers to me before he left. He is so used to just pushing a button on his cell to call us, I didn't know if he remembered our actual phone numbers!

How is your empty nest adjustment? Sometimes I think it's wonderful not to have to plan around anyone else anymore, and other times I'm wondering what I am supposed to do with myself and pull out the baby pictures.
