For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

SON LEAVING MONDAY FOR BOOTCAMP
My son leaves for bootcamp on Monday. He was originally scheduled for December 20th. Before Christmas, but close enough that we could have had an early Christmas and it would have felt like it. We were only told a couple weeks ago that they would be moving up the date and then only yesterday that it would be Monday. I keep crying like a little baby. It seems so silly because it isn't like he'll be gone forever. My husband and younger son think I'm silly for crying, but I can't seem to help myself. Are there any other mothers out there struggling with this?
They say it's empty nest, but I still have my younger son around. I guess I just worry how my older son will handle bootcamp. He made this choice all on his own and we support him completely and are extremely proud of him. He keeps counting down the days and telling me to see my reaction I think. I have tried not to cry around him even though he knows I will come Monday.
I would appreciate hearing from any mothers who have been there or are there now.

My son refused to take a phone card because his recruiter told him he would have to buy one there. We also did not get a phone call but I think it is becase he has not been there long enough.

From what I have heard on here - not many got to call on Christmas. My son did not - I read one mom on here said her daughter called because she earned it being in top 2 for physical training in her division. Your husbands PIR is 02-17 so he is so new there they probably did not get phone calls. No news is good news is hard to live by but it is the best thing to remember.

Our son had a phone card and we didn't get a call either. Depending on what is going on with the division, they may not have been rewarded with a call. If they don't get the things done they were expected to, they won't be given certain rewards as phone calls home.

I read somewhere on this site that the 3 week call is after the full 3rd week of training is complete - not necessarily the same as 3 weeks after they arrive. My son arrived on the 8th so I am thinking my 3 week call will not come until after the first week of January unfortunately.

Yes, third week of training, and the call is a huge maybe, not a given. Even if the division is marched over to make calls, your sailor could be the one standing duty or have been sent elsewhere for something. It happens. The Navy isn't fair that way.

My son left for boot camp on dec 12th. I cried like a baby! I am so happy for him and I know he is following the path God has for him but it is so HARD to let go!!!! I have a 14 year old daughter and we both miss him terribly. I am writing my 4th letter tomorrow. He is in ship 3 div 070 and I have not heard from him yet. I did receive his form letter with the wrong grad date and he forgot to put me on the guest list! I am talking to his old recruiter and he is calling up public affairs for me and I will be contacting him next tues at 12noon to find out any news. I understand how you feel because my son and my daughter and myself are extremely close. we have experienced a lot of crazy stuff together!
I'm looking forward in hearing from him and seeing him again.
i heard we will hear from them at the 4-5 week point? that no news is good news? just confirming his grad date next week then booking on southwest for his grad date on feb 17th.
yes it is an empty nest, but it is good for them so we have to look at it that way ;)

My son leaves Wed for basic and I feel the same as you. I haven't cried yet either but I know tha I will. He is my younges. While I'm happy for him and alo proud I know I will have a difficult time not being able to call him and talk to him. My son too made this decision on his own. I would like to hear from other mother's as well who have gone through this or are going through it now.
