For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

SON LEAVING MONDAY FOR BOOTCAMP
My son leaves for bootcamp on Monday. He was originally scheduled for December 20th. Before Christmas, but close enough that we could have had an early Christmas and it would have felt like it. We were only told a couple weeks ago that they would be moving up the date and then only yesterday that it would be Monday. I keep crying like a little baby. It seems so silly because it isn't like he'll be gone forever. My husband and younger son think I'm silly for crying, but I can't seem to help myself. Are there any other mothers out there struggling with this?
They say it's empty nest, but I still have my younger son around. I guess I just worry how my older son will handle bootcamp. He made this choice all on his own and we support him completely and are extremely proud of him. He keeps counting down the days and telling me to see my reaction I think. I have tried not to cry around him even though he knows I will come Monday.
I would appreciate hearing from any mothers who have been there or are there now.

Merry Christmas To Everyone. Did anyone receive a phone call from their loved one?? Our recruiter told us my husband would be granted a phone call for Christmas, but he never called =/. Was it because he didn't take a phone card?? His recruiter told him he wouldn't need one, but everywhere I read on-line it said they should have one. Either way I'm pretty disappointed with our recruiter so far almost everything he told us, has not been valid. Oh well chin up, gotta stay positive. I appreciate any responses.

Hi. I have learned so much from this site, and you will, too. One thing I learned is that the SRs don't get a call home until after the third week of training, and that the first week they are there is NOT considered part of the training (these are P days, for processing). Christmas was considered pretty much just another day for the new recruits, so they probably got a nice dinner but nothing else special. My son graduates just one week before your husband, so I am right there with you in terms of this roller coaster we're on. I recommend reading through some of the other groups here, which are so wonderful and full of info and advice. My favorite is Boot Camp Mom's, and look at the one for your husband's PIR date -- there are lots of links on that, too. Hang in there...!

We didn't get a call either.. I was disappointed too.. I have a question.. We received the letter on Christmas Eve and my son listed the names of his guests for graduation on Feb 17th, but we noticed that he did not put his little brother on there. He is 7. Does anybody know if we need to do call anybody or do anything to make sure we can get him in the graduation? We didn't read anything in the letter about siblings of certain age.

Hi. I saw this on a different page in this site and found it for you...
Four seats are guaranteed per recruit; however, children 12 years old and younger do not count against the four-guest maximum. The graduating recruit is responsible for identifying those individuals to be placed on the access list. Please coordinate with your recruit via letters regarding who will be on the access list. No additions, deletions or changes will be made to the access list the week of graduation. The four guests on the access list will be admitted into the ceremonial drill hall first. Additional guests not on the access list will have to wait inside the Visitor Center until after the start of the ceremony at which time they will be allowed into the ceremonial hall if additional seating is available as space permits. No additional seating can be guaranteed. PLEASE DO NOT CALL FOR ADDITIONAL SEATS. All visitors must have valid photo identification. This requirement includes children (school ID, Social Security card or copy of birth certificate). Please be aware that security may deny base admission to guests NOT on the access list if they are not accompanied by a guest who is on the access list

I can totally relate, as can ALL the people on this site! That's why we're here! I suggest you join the PIR group for your son's date...there is so much great info there, and everyone is at the same stage you're at with respect to timing. Hang in there!

Thank You. Our 12 yr old is soooo relieved! Guess we need to get her a picture ID at DPS. I don't travel with SSC. Fraid of getting lost. Just me.

We did get a phone call yet my SR did not have a phone card. It was short for others were waiting in line only 5 minutes but we got to hear his voice. hang in there!

Our SR's PIR date is 02/10/11 and we did not receive a call either. His recruiter and other friends, former Navy, said we would possibly hear from him so we all waited all day. Every time the phone rang, the family just stopped and held their breath until we knew who was on the line.......we all hoped since we were all together he'd call but no such luck! 3 weeks will be up this week so maybe we will hear from him for New Year's.
