Well, we got three envelopes total from our SR. Two were questionnaires that I had sent him, so those were for me, and one was addressed to the "Children". There were three letters in there. One for each of his siblings. Our SR was selected for APO - Athletics Petty Officer. He's pretty stoked about that :) So good to hear from him!! He indicated on one of the questionnaires that they get to make phone calls on 12/08. That's tomorrow!! Woo Hoo!
Hi there everyone and finallllllly I'm here. Just wanted to say that I was more than happy to finally get a call from my SR yesterday. It was soooooooo good to finally hear his voice on the other end and I can't help but say that when I did hear his voice that the tears just started to come. So he had to said......"MOM, NO CRYING JUST TALK"!! LOL! I have been on cloud nine since his call. I can't wait to finally see him at his graduation. Lord knows I will be bringing along a box of kleenex's for that. Think I should buy stock in that company!! HAAA! With my SR being my oldest and leaving the nest, words cannot express how hard this has been on me. Especially not being able to talk with him. So I wait for the mailman everyday (he probably thinks I'm stalking him by now) with hope's of receiving another letter from my son. I can't wait for these 9 weeks to be over with so I can finally talk with my son. I know when I was 18 and I moved to Florida from North Carolina, that I know now what my Momma went threw. It's so hard to let go of our children, but I have to say the thought of my son joining the Navy has given me a whole new sense of pride in that he has chosen something so great for his life. So enuff with all my rambling on here. I look forward in to getting to know all the other Mom's on here and hopefully when we do make it to our SRs PIR graduation, that we can meet up and hug each other and know that we have all made a new lifelong friend!

I guess this is the group I should be in. I'm also looking forward to January coming around quickly. Having the holidays without my son seems really strange. I just don't seem to be able to get into the holiday spirit yet. Maybe it will just be delayed and hit me in January. Seeing my son again will be such a relief. Can't wait...
I know several of you have ordered ribbons from me to wear to PIR. All of those orders have now been shipped. Please let me know what you think of them when they arrive. I am sure you will love them :-D With the holidays here the shipping seems to be taking an extra day or two depending on how far you are from me but hopefully you will all have them by this Friday or Tuesday at the latest. The mail doesn't run on Monday so letters from your SR's will probably be delayed next week as well. If anyone else would like to order the ribbons to wear to PIR to support your Sailor just send me a friend request on this site or send me an email to uniquememorymakers@yahoo.com and I will send you all the ribbon info as well as some helpful tips for PIR. You have more time to place your order if you want to wait until after Christmas :-) I hope you all have a great day.
Hello, Everyone... Hope all is well this holiday season. I haven't been on this site for a while.. but it is now my second child who has join the navy and he will be graduating on the 13th of January.
Wow, that is awesome Ashley's mom. How long ago was your other child at boot camp and where is he/her now? I hope doing well and coming home for Christmas :-)
We may have pictures of your sailors, If you got a call on Christmas that said they were in a church in Indiana, They were with us and we took pictures for you all to see, Navy for moms has to approve all the pictures so it will be a bit before the photos are posted otherwise I started a page on Facebook for you all to at this link if you have Facebook these pictures are viewable now :) hopefully you see your sailor! :https://www.facebook.com/groups/317793551584624/
Is there another way (other than Facebook) to see the pictures? I am living in the stone age and don't have a Facebook account, but did receive a call from my son saying he was on his way to church when he phoned us on Christmas. Thanks!!
please except my request so I can see those pics...pretty please :)
Hellp ship 09 division 041 . i joined when my son forst went to boot . but alot transpired shortly after he shipped. I am sad to say that we lost my sister to stroke on 12-8 and it was utter heartbreak for me to make a decision as to tell my sailor now or wait . I chose to wait until we saw him on christmas . He was obviously sad but will be fine i believe. looked great and said it really is not all that bad . seems to be adapting well. I just wanted you all to know I have not forgotten you guys and am always thinking of other moms who have sailors as well .
