Which graduation is it?  bootcamp?

If it's bootcamp, a great gift is a watch.  They all need watches along the way, one with alarms, water proof, etc.  They have a lot of watches at the NEX right there on at RTC.  We got our son one from Costco.  i have seen most people wearing watches with black bands.  I do not know if that is required, but that is what they sell at the NEX.  The one we got is silver with 5 alarms, is solar powered, atomic, etc.  My son said no one has ever said anything about it being silver.  Maybe double check.

we also got our son a watch from the fossil store, the one at Gurnee Mills Mall can tell you which ones are 'approved' for wear, we had his PIR date engraved on the back, he LOVED it, truly something he will always cherish!

I thought I read somewhere that the Sailors weren't allowed to take any "gifts" back with them after graduation.  They said to wait till they are at their A school to give it too them.  They could unwrap something to see it but have to wait till later to actually have it.

Not sure - you have to check the rules.

They are only allowed to take a watch back with them after graduation.

The coins are nice tokens also. While one of these wouldn't be the only thing probably since they are fairly inexpensive they are nice. I googled Navy Coins (token) and found them. They can also be engraved. Just another thought.

We got Seth a watch also from Beadford Exchange. It was a commemorative Navy watch and not something he can wear in uniform But a very nice keepsake he can wear as a civilian and be passed down to his children.

Christie...when does your recruit graduate boot camp? There is a PIR group for you to join for support and info

I gave my daughter a gift card to the NEX at graduation, I think a watch is an excellent idea. A wallet maybe a great idea for your son.   After graduation I gave her items for her room.

is a watch a good idea for the girls too?  Or is there something else?

I love the flag idea, I think I am going to do that. Thank you!

Not being rude, but where is he going to keep the flag?  He won't have room on the ship for it when he gets there.  Also if you give him a flag, make sure you put it in a case so it is stored right.

That is an awesome idea!   How do you go about having a flag flown over the US capitol?

My son will be graduating on the17th of Feb. form Boot Camp. I really like your idea and will be looking into it.
