GROUPS: Listed by Name of US Naval Ships (actual US Naval vessels in service)
Looking for other Navy For Moms members with sailors on the same ship/boat?
Here is a list in alphabetical order by name of ship. List doe NOT include groups with fewer than 3 members and/or groups which have been inactive in the last 8 months. Cllckable links have been provided. Just click on the name of the ship. Please post a comment if I missed your sailor's ship (with a link, if possible). Please note that if your son/daughter is in boot camp, his/her barracks are named after ships. The groups listed below are not Navy For Moms groups designated for barracks (please see groups associated with PIR dates). Edited & updated Feb 2017 by BunkerQB.
This list refers to the REAL thing - with sailors, guns, etc.

Checked the information on the ships as they are listed with the Naval Vessel Register. You'll find it quite interesting.

chefswifey,
The groups were started by others. I put the list together. I did a search of group using the search function after clicking on the GROUPS tab. I didn't find a group for the USS Elrod FFG 65. I did find another mom with a son on the Elrod. Here is her profile. Click on it and send her a friend request. Maybe between the two of you, one of you can start the group. Once your group has been added. I am more than happy to add it to the list above. Just post a comment here.

The newnavymom's link works only if you copy, then paste into your browser. Don't know why.
Try these. First line in TEXT format with link attached. Second link the url itself.
Dear Eileen,
USS Albany is a fast attack submarine. I wouldn't bother with forming a Navy For Moms group. Not enough people will join the group. My son is on a submarine. If you are not on Facebook, join it. My son's boat has a Family Readiness Group (FRG) page on Facebook. You will probably need to get approval from the ombudsman (of the boat). The person in charge of the FB page and ombudsman is normally a spouse of a high ranking officer. The group is a "CLOSED" group - because this will be your source of information about the boat's activities.
The USS Albany has FB group. You should check it out.

Eileen I don't think there is a group for the USS Albany. So, YOU need to form it. Fun and easy. Once you form it there are a couple of groups you can post the link in....Norfolk Sailors and Destroyer Moms. (I'll post the links if you need me to)
USS Albany (It's not been active in almost a year, but if it were on the list people might find it.)
No N4M group for the USS Jimmy Carter. You could take a shot and form one or post a message in the WA Oregon group. Please check with your ombudsman to see if there is a Family Readiness Group on FB. Good luck.
http://www.navyformoms.com/group/u-s-s-elrod-ffg-55 Just made a new group for the USS Elrod. I contacted Sandy-SailorMom and l let her know.
My son is on the USS Nicholas they just left for their first deployment. Would love to meet some other girlfriends, wives or other moms who's loved one is on the same ship.
My husband is on the USS Elrod. They left the day after the Nicholas did. Did you get to see the footage of the Nicholas pulling out from Norfolk?
Hi Chefswifey I saw the reports about both ships leaving & my friend in VA sent me the video clip of the ship leaving.
