OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

January + Adoption........It is going to be big !!!!!!!
MOTTO: “GUNG HO” was the Battle Cry of the Second Raider Battalion and the Motto of USS MAKIN ISLAND (CVE 93). “Gung Ho” translated means “Work Together”.
Being a Fast Attack momma I really knew nothing about the Makin Island, but doing a little research I found that their motto :GUNG HO” meant work together, I thought that since we as Molly moms would fail if we did not “Gung Ho” it would be a great battle cry for us.
So let’s GUNG HO into the NEW YEAR together. Since the size of the group is extra large, we will not be shipping till the middle of Feb. Since the timing will not be making any special holiday I thought that we could just make it a "All Things New" packing Whether it is a new snack or new game or something new to learn.
This is the wish list that was provided to me..... BE AWARE there might be a little special request coming soon....
They stay pretty strict with regulations so there will be no pillow cases shipped with this adoption....
Any other Ideas, PLEASE bring them on........I'm still waiting on a head count of men women marines

Also they are in need of Children's books that they can use for the United in Reading program. This is where the parents read a book while being recorded and then send the DVD and book to the child....what a get way to be a parent while away.

I was thinking about folding over the tops then using a hole punch and making two holes then tying it closed with a ribbon.

I've enlisted the assistance of our 3-6 grade Awana class at church. Wednesday evening, they will decorate lunch bags and write a personal note to slip in each bag. Then next Wednesday night, they will fill the bags. I have granola bars, candies, lip balms, ramen, fruit snacks, nuts,) I'll let you know how many individual bags we end up with.
I'm hoping that our church kids will want to do something like this occasionally. Some of them have brothers, sisters, moms, in different branches. One of our 6 year olds mom was awarded a Bronze Star on her last tour in Afghanistan.
Would it also be appropriate for me to fill a "share" box of entertainment items (magazines, books, cards, games, etc?) and a "share" box of female personal stuff (lotions, midol, lipglosses, emery boards, bobby pins, hair ties, etc)? I've got some "church ladies" who would like to add a few items.
I'm new to MAS so I'm looking for a little guidance on this project. Once I get my feet wet, with this one, I'll be ready to go on the next project!

Share boxes are great and well received. I usually write on outside of box "Share" and put a big print note on top of the inside of box that it is a share box.

My Middle School civic group is going to do a "gum drive." Even if they all just brought one pack of gum per student, that would be 600 packs. Fingers crossed!

I love this idea. I just asked my daughter's friend, who is the head of the Key Club at the high school, if their club would be interested in doing a drive for maybe one or two of the items on the list, such as the Skittles? I mean, teens should be happy to donate Skittles don't you think?

I contacted the Clif Bar/Luna Bar company today to ask about a donation for one of our adoptions. Have to fill out a request form to see if they will approve and contribute, which they said takes 90 days, but hey, can use it for a future adoption if it gets approved.
I was at the hair salon last week and they had a huge basket of sample size Luna bars so i started asking how they got them, etc. Figured if they could get samples for a hair salon then why couldn't we have sample to put in goodie bags. So hopefully they will approve it and either give sample size or full size eventually.

@TN Navy Welcome, I have to say that it sounds like your wet are good and wet...wow Yes as Carol said share boxes are great and it is easier to ship some item this way. Just thought it would be fun for them to each get something handed to them.
In my girl bags I have razor, tampon, pantie lingers, lip gloss, eye liners, lotions, hair ties...candy snacks, etc....I just pulled off the list
Having all these kids work on stuff is sooo cool. They are going to love it . I know my son loves the kids handmade stuff the best....
Now I have to go pull my guy drawer and see if I have anything for the guy bags....I really like the girls better..maybe because I have boys..lol
