Anyone else's son/daughter on this ship/div?

Hi greny & welcome!

All of us are going through the same emotional rollercoaster.  We are here to help each other get through it.  The only calls any of us have received (other than the "I'm here, I'm ok" call) were for medical info, not social.  I guess they haven't earned a call yet.  I have no idea why you wouldn't have received your "kid in a box" yet.  I would try to contact FEDEX.  They should be able to track the package somehow.  I certainly hope it's just a matter of confusion & nothing wrong.

Have you seen anything about PIR and our ship/division wearing red scarves to recognize each other and to support our sailors?

We are glad you found us. There is all sorts of helpful info on and around this site. Plenty of ladies able and willing to point you in the direction you need to go, as well.

Paula (SWCC mom)

Not a problem, Greny,

Like I said, we are all here looking for the same thing.  We are all trying to understand our SR's new life and how we fit into it.

Here is the link about the scarves (and the other colors the other ships/divisions have chosen): http://www.navyformoms.com/group/pir02102012/forum/topics/group-colors

Good luck with the hunt for your "kid in a box".  Also, there is a Navy 4 Dads site if your husband is interested.  I'm sure it's not nearly as emotional as the one for mom's is.  We just can't help it.  It's been our job to be there for them and now we can only lend support from the sidelines.

Looking forward to meeting everyone soon. By the way, where are you from? We have moms from Wisconsin, Arizona, Maryland, FL and Louisianna so far.

Welcome also!  I am looking forward to meeting you in only 34 days!

Mary

Did you ladies get calls?  I'm so glad I had my phone with me! I was on my way home from the gym...totally forgot all the stuff I wanted to ask.  He's doing good, hanging in there.  Sounded wonderful!

We got a phone call too!  He sounded good, tired but upbeat. It was so good to hear his voice...31 days!

Let me know if anyone else gets call today!  I want to hear all I can about the group!

Mary

We got a call too. I could hardly speak at first. I feel so much better after hearing his voice. He sounded good.

I'm so happy you all heard from your SR tonight. Even if they didn't say much and we all were too emotional to think straight...  Did anyone hear about when their Battlestations is?  I'm going to ask in my next letter, for sure.  My SR sounded like he had his head straight- said he only had "one bad day" when I asked him about the yelling.  I guess that isn't too bad.  Very exciting, Ladies!

Another letter today.  My SR sent back my "questionnaire" is the self-addressed envelope I sent.  That was fun.  I also got a letter from Sunday.  He said they are getting mail everyday now and he's happy to have something other than his training manual to read.

Thanks everyone for sharing!  It really is helpful and encouraging to hear form all of you!  Have a great day!

Hi, just checking in. How is everyone doing by now? Good, I hope. I have my moments, but actually am doing a pretty good job of hanging in there. Finding letters from him in the mailbox each week is a great thing to look forward to. Counting down the days, right?

Doing pretty good-as the countdown is now on the back half-although am wondering about the time frame to book for graduation-was sooo hoping he'd be home for at least a few days between graduation and air rescue training-lots of people wanting to see him and only so many can go-letters are short but great=phone call was so relieving-his voice was the medicine needed-again where is everyone staying???

Hi!  My son is going into Air Rescue also.  According to the letter I received from him today, they will be leaving either late Friday night or very early Saturday morning after graduation for A-School.  He told me that I should only plan on seeing him for maybe 6 to 8 hours.  He is hoping that we will go to the Airport to see him off.  Not exactly the news I was hoping to hear, but if 6 to 8 hours is all I get, I will gladly take it!!!  I can't wait to see him!!
