Hi All...I thought I would start a discussion for everyone with a loved one starting Power Scool 8/18/11. My son is an EM and will be in Section 2.

Wow I haven't been on in a long time.  Sailor son grads Feb 3rd and was told on Dec 19 that he would be going to NY.  Said he was hoping that he could wait to go to NY until March. put in a "request" to be with the class 1107 in April.  Haven't heard from him since he drove back last week, but knowing how the military works... we shall see if he "volunteered" or was "volun-told"...  Just bought my plane tickets and have my leave from school approved.  Hope to see you all there!  Looking forward to meeting some of you parents of the kids my kid talks about.

The good thing about him being in NY is he will be about 250 miles from his college brother.    Still a ba-zillion miles from home ( ok about 700 miles) but at least if time and God wills it, they will be able to see each other for short times.

My ET son graduates Power School Feb. 3, but due to some serious financial setbacks in recent months it looks like we will not be able to attend after all. I am so sad. I am just about as sad to miss an opportunity to meet some Nuke Moms as I am about missing the ceremony. I would be so grateful to see any pictures anyone might take of the ceremony...:/

nvmomma, I'm so sorry to hear that you will be unable to attend. I was looking forward to meeting you, as well as all of the other nuke moms with sailors graduating power school that day. I am more than happy to take pictures of your sailor. Just send me a private message through N4Ms or I am also available on the nuke moms facebook group.

Dodie, When my son graduated from Power School about 2 years ago, I also had a friend who couldn't attend. About 15 minutes before it starts they are called to attention according to section. If you know the last name and section #, you have a great opportunity to take pictures. Also when the CO hands them their certificate, you are encouraged to come up very close to the stage to take a picture. The CO pauses while shaking their hand so you can get a GREAT picture. Hope this helps. Pat

So just found out that my Fiance is going to be on Grad Hold...so NO IDEA if he will be doing prototype in goose creek or NY. On the bright side, he will not start prototype before june. That will be the earliest. I am trying to get a promotion at work that would cause me to move from Myrtle Beach down to Charleston, and we are getting married at the base chapel after power school graduation in a few weeks. We are hoping that if I do get this promotion we will be able to move in together off base since the corporate center is in North Charleston, off River's ave. So many hopefuls to look forward to. If he goes to NY I will not follow him due to my job situation. However with him being on grad hold that means I get a few extra months with him near me :-)

Wish I'd found this group earlier!  Our sailor will (hopefully!) be graduating on Feb. 3, too.  So excited!
