how long does it take before I get the box and form letter?

It was about a week before I got the box aka a kid in the box with no kid. Took about ten days for the form letter. About three weeks for the first call and letter from my son.
My son was supposed to graduate this Friday. However he has been set back two weeks and will graduate January twenty seven. I am disappointed I can not see him this week but the time will pass quickly until I see him. When he first started boot camp it seemed like eternity until I could see him. Now t is just around the corner. So proud of him. Your child will do fine and before you know it graduation will be here

Welcome! My son also arrived on Jan. 3.  I got the box on Jan 6.  Waiting on the letter.....

We received our letter on the 13th and our son also started on the Jan 3 and the box arrived on the Jan 9th

I have talked to him twice since he left. Once on Saturday the 7th and just this pass Sunday.

So good to hear his voice and that he is adjusting to military life.

what? twice since he left? we just received the one call saying he made it to great lakes

My son left on January 5th and I received my box yesterday.  Now I'm waiting for the form letter and definately the phone call.  I miss tons!

My daughter left Jan 3rd also.  Got her "kid in the box" on the 6th.  Do you know what ship/div your daughter is?  Mine is Ship 02/Div 915

No I have no clue.  I have not receive anything.

Hello Jamie, my daughter "Jaime" is Ship 02, Div 915 also! I just got the form letter today. I had gotten her address from her recruiter yesterday, sent a letter out, and found out the address was incorrect. So, I sent another one tonight. I want to book flights, hotel and rental car, but after reading, now I'm afraid to for fear it will get pushed out. Nice to know someone with the same ship! What is your daughter's name? I wonder how large their unit is, and if they'll get to know one another? Is she going to San Antonio for A-School?

Lee Ann

Hi Lee Ann - how exciting.. I also received my letter today.  I booked the hotel.  You can cancel that until 4:30 the day of.  I think I will book my flights and worse case change.  I think certain airlines will rebook you with no charge.  My daughters name is Cami.  I was talking to a retired Navy Cheif that works at my company and he said they should all know each other.  I am going to write Cami and ask if she knows your daughter.  Cami will be going to Virginia for A-School.  What is your daughters job?

My boyfriend gets very good deals through work on Hilton owned hotels, so he's checking on that for me on Monday. They will make the reservations for us. He works for a big developer in Buffalo, and he's affiliated with Hilton Group. I wish I knew what day they were flying out to A-School, then I would book my flights. We are flying to Florida directly from Chicago. I may even try to get a flight out Saturday night. I'm hearing different stories. The recruiter told me she'd fly out on Monday, and some people tell me she could fly out Friday right after graduation, Saturday, or even Sunday. I don't know which to believe. I am booking my flights with Southwest, because they will credit your ticket towards another flight as long as you use it in a year. Jaime is an MA, not sure what that is, someone told me Master at Arms. Jaime told me it's some type of security job. I don't think she really even knows to be honest. What is Cami going to do for a job? Is she active, or reserves? Jaime chose reserves, and will be stationed in Buffalo.

A good deal is always nice :) - I have NO clue about A school either.  I dont even know whether to fly out Sunday or Monday. I was told they could leave as long as they are back by 8pm.  I am jsut not sure about sunday.  I booked for Monday to be safe.  Figured I could always change it back to Sunday if needed.  I also went with Southwest.  Cami will be doing OS - Operations Specialist.  She is active duty. We have no clue where she will be stationed
