For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

My son is there now. The facebook page u.s. navy recruit training command has been a huge help. We havent recieved our first real letter yet(just the form letter). The facebook page for a xmas surprise posted a few divisions (my son's one of them) and it was a huge relief to see my son looked strong and healthy. Hang in there. Email me if you need to break down or vent. Be strong for your recruit.

Your welcome. Its tough. If its in his contract i am sure he will get it. there will be other 18 yeaar olds there.
Its difficult for them but they are stronger thn we think. I was a mess at christmas thinking hes all alone, no letters from home yet, no address to write him. I saw his photo and my my whole outlook changed. hes fine or at least he will be 02/17. I am sure he isnt comfy cozy but hes surviving haha at least i hope. Maybe soon i will have a letter. Ill let u know what he has to say. On his form letter he wrote a quick note on the back saying" i am not allowed to write yet, when i do u will get bunches of letters. i have been hare 1 week and 1 day now. it sure is different. the first week sucked. a bunch of people went home already. We get up early every day and stay on our feet till taps. we r not allowed to talk but we can after taps a bit. gotta go. i love you. Steven"

We dropped our son off on the 10th, and he was due there on the 11th. My daughter-in-law didn't know about "the phone call" and didn't pick up at 4 am, so we know he's there and in terrific hands. Wait for the letter and write letters in the meantime and check out what you can on the web as there is a ton of information out there. Be excited for him because he has made a terrific choice and will grow and surprise you.

My son left for bootcamp on the 10th as well. I have been in tears this whole time. We received the call that he arrived safely and that he wouldn't be able to call for 3 weeks. This is not news, I just had no idea how hard it was going to be.
I wanted to go to him the night before he left and beg him not to go but I restrained myself. Everyone is telling me that he will be fine but it's the unknown that's killing me. I've been his mom for 18 years and it has been my job to be there for him and to protect him and I feel as if my hands are tied and I'm helpless to help my son.
We were fortunate enough to get his mailing address from his recruiter, so I've been writing like a mad woman.
I know we have to take it day by day but it's going to be the longest 8 weeks of my life.
For now I'm just waiting the 3 weeks til I get that phone call. I wish there was a way to know for sure that he is ok. I kow they say no news is good news but it doesn't feel very good. I just can't seem to keep it together.
This morning we got the package with all his clothes in it. Tears started flowing again.
I'm glad I'm not alone.

We got the package yesterday with his clothes. I cant believe how fast it came. I hugged his clothes when I saw them I miss him like crazy. We all do. Maybe they ate in the same sqaud. I dont remembrr a thing he said on the phone except I love u mom.

I feel the exact same way as you do! My son left on the 9th and I miss him so much. Its like you said, its the unknown that is so hard!! Getting his box was very hard! What job did yours join for? Mine is going for the Nuclear Program.

Kimberly....what is your division #? I may be able to direct you to your PIR group...lots of info and support. Most that left the week of the 9th are in PIR group March 2, 2012
