My boyfriend just left on January 10th for basic. He wasn't supposed to leave until March, but his recruiter made him switch with another guy. My mom and I have been checking this website for a few months now to try and get me ready for it. After he swore in on Tuesday, we went to the airport. We had read on here that we could actually get a pass to get through security, so I was able to spend an extra 2 hours with him. I got really lucky, he had a 5:20 flight so after they left MEPS I was able to spend the day with him. This is honestly the hardest this I have ever been through in my life, but I am coping with it better than I expected. I mean, I still have random moments where I see something, or hear a song that reminds me of him and have breakdowns. Unfortunately, this has happened in public places more than once. We have talked about it before, and we are both completely committed to each other. I mean we haven't been dating long enough to get married, but we have talked about it, and if we are married by the time I am done with college, I will be ready to pack up and go with him wherever he goes. Are there any suggestions to help me get through this a bit better? He doesn't get to go home after basic and is shipped down to SC for A school so he won't be home for 8 months.

I hope so! My SR left right before Christmas so he was held up in processing an extra week or so. I'm not sure if that effected mailing letters or anything but you might receive yours sooner.

Well tomorrow is a holiday so I bet letters won't go out until tuesday. It would make my week to get a letter this wekk :) ahhh ! lol

Yeah, that happened to me around New Years. I got my letters on Friday instead of Thursday because of the holiday on Monday. Letters make everything so much better. Last Thursday I got letters that morning and he told me that he would be calling that Thursday so I was so excited to read that I would get to talk to him later that day!

Aww that's awesome! I can't wait to get a phone call!  hearing his voice would be so great right now! haha! how long did it take for him to start getting your letters?

It is so awesome! I waited four long weeks for that voice. Haha. I got his address from his recruiter 5 days after he left. I mailed a letter the same day and he got them on December 23rd. So I sent them on the 19th and he got them on the 23rd. He said that's about average, he gets my letters 3 or 4 days after I sent them.

ooh wow that was fast! I didn't realize they would get our letters before their 2nd sunday! I got my bf's address the about 6 days after he left from his recruiter too! haha but we got his form letter the next day! I sent letters out on the  12th and have sent letters every day since so I hope he gets them this week :)

I wasn't expecting him to get them for a while either! I was glad to hear he got them that soon. I'm sure he'll get your letters this week. Especially since you got the form letter so fast. Remember, he can receive mail every day so you never know with the mail system. It can get crazy up there haha. :)

You have made me so excited haha! I can't wait to hear from him and It makes me happy to think he will get my letters soon! I miss him alot! When does your bf graduate?

Yay! I'm glad I could help :) My bf graduates February 17th. It still feels so far away! I miss him a lot too. It's the worst!

That's pretty soon!! :) my bf grads march 2nd!

So they're only 2 weeks apart then! I wonder if they would ever see each other. Haha.

yeah! Maybe! Who knows! lol Are you excited for PIR?
