While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

JK, I love that you PRAY! We need to know there is someone in control who is big enough to hold us and the whole world in His hand... And on another note... I watch Hoarders now and then to keep me on my toes! We will be moving the weekend after the PIR and want to get a dumpster in the driveway to see how much we can bring ourselves to get rid of. Today I finally paid for our tickets, the financial details of this trip and the move at the same time have been a bit overwhelming, I also have 2 engaged children (One is my SR!) and a 15 year old, and 2 obnoxious dogs, so I have plenty of distractions, but the thing that brings me the most peace (comfort and joy too) is checking in on my boy's world :) Can't wait to celebrate the amazing victory with our future sailors, and you all!

OKAY......re: midweek challenge. Just read on another wall that the RDC's in one division are STRONGLY discouraging newspaper clippings. Not sure about ours......so I plan to write 1-2 extra letters for this week.

Okay.....maybe we'll just send clippings until we are told otherwise. Doesn't the RTC site recommend it anyway?
Am I the only one having trouble with this website? Very sluggish, freezes at times. I've been attempting to respond to your post for 10+minutes.

JK mine is doing the same. I thought it was just me. Moving around on here seems to be taking longer.
I never had a probelm with newspaper clippings either. He told me he enjoyed getting them.

wow - I've been sending copied articles every other day or so. do you have any other details about it? That's interesting because the RTC website encourages it. Bummer, guess I will hold off until I hear more :(

I have been reading posts on the Facebook page Navy Bootcamp Family UNITE! Feb 10th 2012 about some of the SR's getting sick (including OUR SR, as reported in letters to my future daughter-in-law, he has been coughing for 3 weeks and an instructor suspects pneumonia?! NO WAY). Does anyone have a good idea how they will be taken care of? Like from the littlest things like a cough drop, or antihistamines, cough medicine, all the way to antibiotics? At what point do they roll them back for recovery time? At what point would they call home to give us a heads up? WILL THEY TAKE GOOD CARE OF THEM?! Yes, I am trying not to worry but I know how hard these future Seamen desire to succeed and they will push them selves farther than they really should. Those of you who pray, please pray for miraculous strength and healing! Please respond if you know how this goes!

My SR didn't say what they did or did not do to treat him but he did go to medical and had temperature of 102.4. At least they sent him to medical and didn't just say "tough it out". He missed a training session and has to make it up somehow, but I haven't gotten a call so I am taking that as a good sign. Thank goodness BUDS will be in the summer! Although I know a lot of guys get sick and injured during that as well. Our men are crazy MamaBear! But I am so proud that they are there and doing this for the good others, for all of us.

Mamabear and bryandi, sickness in BC seems to quite common. Sinus infections, pink eye, and even pnuemonia seem to be the most common. They will be treated and released back into training, it shouldnt effect a delay in PIR. I know it is hard not to worry because we are moms, but they are tough and yes a little crazy too. lol

Good Morning 805 Moms,
I hope all of you are getting and receiving encouraging letters from your SR. 16 days and counting. I can't wait. I have so missed our guy.
I just finished working my 5 12hr night shifts. Need a day to recover.....lol. So the nights I'm working I think and pray for our guys throughout the night. Thankfully, I work with a lady whos son had his PIR last year. She directed me to this site and has given me some great advise. Most of which I think we have covered on here to this point. I'm off for a few days, so I know I will most likely have some questions.
Our son really knows me: In his last letter he asked if I had planned "things to do?" I did look for places to tour and see a few weeks ago. Many things I would like to see and do. However, I'm not sure about the time of year (weather-wise) & time-wise for our Sailor.
WOW......I just realized my computer is NOT going cRaZy on this site. The past few weeks my computer and this site didn't like each other. lol.
