While I am sad to see him go, I am very proud of his decision. I would like to meet other moms whose child or children have left for bootcamp at hte same time.

Hey ladies, has anyone received their form letter with their SR's address yet? I still haven't, and am getting concerned/upset. Looks like the recruiter is getting a phone call tomorrow.

It takes up to two weeks to get the form letter.  Don't get too concerned.  Remember, no news is good news. :)

HABLA ESPANOL

Hi psmom3

my son also left to bc on 1/10 Great Lakes from Kissimmee, FL. After thinking I was prepared for this I don't think you can never be. Cried for days and still cry. I pray everyday but I know this is something he really wanted and I am a very proud mom. I received the box yesterday it was left by my door saw it as I was leaving to work and just wanted to stay home and cry some more but had to put it aside until I came back...then I really couldnt find a way of opening it. Today his dad said ok we need to do this together he opened I looked and he reminded me that its already been one week and we have maded thru...but it also reminds me that my other son will be leaving soon...August 2012. Im really proud of my kids and love them so very much!!!

Hi there, my son left on the 12th. I would think they will have the same date of graduation, if all goes well.  I am still learning this format but would love to add you as a friend so we can stay in touch.  I also got my box yesterday. Prayer is helping and knowing that they are doing what they wanted to do.  Hang in there:)

My son also left for bootcamp on January 9th / 10th.  We dropped him off on the 9th but he didn't fly out till the 10th. I got his box on Monday which I didn't excpect due to the holiday.  It made my eyes water, still haven't gotten a form letter letting me know where to write him.  Hope I get one soon.  I have already started writting, so by the time he gets it will very long.

James' mom - did you get your box yet? What a bittersweet day that was. I still have no form letter, and as I expected no help from our recruiter. I was pretty persistent yesterday with him, but still have no answers. It's killing not knowing if he is scheduled to graduate on 03/02, or 03/09. As best as I can figure SRs that arrived on 01/09 are 080 division, but then there are three 900 divisions as well. I know my son doesn't sing or play an instrument, but there are the flags and rifles as well that go to 900 divisions. Maybe our boys learned they would get out of there a week earlier and decided to sing... Lol

AmyaodRN, I DID get the box, Friday, and was not ready for it.  I cried, even though all it contained was his hoodie, his shirt, belt and phone.  He had worn a pair of old jeans and shoes, and had planned on just tossing those.  No form letter in the mail yet, and I hate to admit, I have this sneaking feeling that perhaps he sent it to his girlfriend, although I can't believe he would do that.  It's just that her demeanor has really changed in the last 24 hours.  We don't have a good relationship, and she's been ultra-clingy, and all of a sudden, she's happy-go-lucky.  The recruiter is getting a phone call/e-mail this morning.  I suppose I should "slow my roll" as my son says in regards to jumping to conclusions about his g/f, but it's just difficult.    My son doesn't sing or play an instrument, either, but that's too funny... maybe they WILL do something to get out earlier!!  :)  I'll let you know if I get anywhere w/the recruiter.  Let me know when you get your box!  Hope we get to meet @ PIR!

Finally got an address from the recruiter at 9:48pm, only for it to be wrong!! Ship 11 USS Kearsage (LHD-3) 7114. Now more waiting. This took 2 days of asking, so the recruiter says he just got today.
What?? How can it be wrong? I finally called the recruiter today, too, and he was looing in their computer systemand read it right to me. The division # seems to be the most crucial bit of info, because the "ship" address can be found online. I can find the link when I get home and paste it. My son is also ship #11. Can you call the Sr. Chief?
It can only be wrong because the recruiter is an @&$. I would LOVE to call the Sr. Chief, but have no contact info. Not sure I can google THAT info.

What division??? The suspense is killing me? 915? Lol

My son is Ship 11, Div 083.  My hubby and I were at a UNLV game when I read your message and I had a huge laugh over 915!!  :)  My son's recruiter didn't give me the "ship name," just number.  Where the heck did 7114 come from???  Here are the addresses for all of the "ships," just go to Navy.mil, and the family area for contacting recruits.  http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/contact_recruit.asp  Don't know if the link will work, but if not, just copy and paste into the browser, and hopefully that will do it.  GOT to be a way to find the recruiter's senior officer... Keep me posted.  We'll figure it out some way.  :)
