For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

What did your SR say in their form letter?
I know that our SRs are probably feeling a little like fish out of water. But I wanted to give some of the new moms a glimpse at what they are experiencing and how much they have grown.
My son was not a wimpy kid but he is very laid back and comical. He has a certain ambition to move forward and not be like his biological father. LONG STORY!!
As the only son of a single mom, he has always been my rock. And he still is. He left on January 9, 2012 and for the first week I did nothing but cry. I cried when I smelled his shower gel, cologne and his dog. I cried when I would walk past his room and make breakfast since we shared that together every morning in the last three weeks. I cried when I saw his pictures and held my grandson because he looks just like his uncle as a baby. I cried and cried and cried until I had rubbed my eyes raw. I still cry but each day it gets easier. I even cried when I got the letter in the mail. But this was different, they were happy tears! So with that said, I do understand and feel how you feel. But maybe my son's words will give you a bit of a smile and a hope to hang onto until you get your first communication outside of the "kid in a box without the kid".

My Petty Officer is letting me write you on the back. SO FRAME THIS SH*T.
Wanted to tell you I love you and miss you very much. I wanted to quit so badly yesterday but disappointing you would crush me. I can do this, I will do this. And when I get back, I'm going to take you out to where ever you want to go. Tell everyone I'm fine here. The caviar is a little bland and my gold toilet is a little cold but I think I'll manage. I love you, Mom. I gotta go now.
P.S. Spoil Athena!!!!!
(Athena is his Rhodesian Ridgeback dog. They were inseperable and now she sleeps in my bed!!! UGH!! A 60 lb mutt that snores and passes gas!! Sure, Jess, I'll spoil her! )

The tears will always be there but not so many as before. The joy at holding them in your arms again at PIR is what you will hold onto because that is what gets me through each day. Just the thought of seeing him in his uniform and hugging him like I will never let go!!

Your post was the first thing I saw on my phone this morning...cried, then laughed (thankfully in that order). Your son sounds amazing and although he's going through this difficult process he's thinking about you. We are all so blessed to have such great kids. Today was tough was Day 1 for me but thinking about your son's letter helped. All the best to both of you (and Athena too). LOL

I know how hard it is when they first leave. Just know that the tears and sorrow will turn to joy and you will get through this. We are in this together! We will get you through this like Shellie, Jean, Brigitte, Viola and Linda, as well as many others have helped me!!

That is great that you got your letter. When did it come? My daughter arrived at GL on 1/10/12, but I haven't received a letter yet. I have been trying to rush home from work every day to see if anything has arrived

I received my letter yesterday. The form letter was the first communication that I had with my son since the 9th of Jan. You should get it soon. :) Keep rushing home and you will cry and laugh the moment your hand is on that little white envelope!!!

Thank you! I cannot wait!! It seems so silly, but I think it will be the little things that keep me going. I still feel a little lost without her around.

Kimmic...15 kids dropped out? Where did they go I wonder..Its so funny how important family has all of a sudden become SO VERY important to them. They know it before but realize it when they leave.
