Haven't slept in 2 days.  Just wondering show she is doing?  That first call was hard.  I don't know if they read from a script, but the call was exactly like they said it would be.  Short very short and to the point, I'm here, made it safe, love you , and gotta go".  Wow!!!

Hi Helen - Good thing you are here for some love and support.  First of all - here is a big Navy Mom hug.  We all know what you are going through, and most of us have already been there and others are experiencing your same pain.  We are still surviving and thriving, so we know you will too.  Your daughter is doing fine.  She is going through her 'P' (Processing Days), and soon will be assigned to a Division, if she hasn't already.  She is tired, but everyone around her is tired too and they are already learning to support each other.  She is making new friends, and they are probably trying not to laugh as the RDC yells 'Holy ####ing Bats$$$ Spiderman!!', 'You had better the the lead out of your a$$', 'Quicklier, Like a Bunny!', or one of the many other colorful phrases she will learn.  I had to wait almost 4 weeks to talk to my son, and I practically jumped out of my skin and was shaking like a leaf when he did call.  'Hello!!!' I shouted, and on the other end of the line, I could hear that young man smiling as he said 'Hey Mom, was up?'  He's done with Boot now, but his confidence as soared, he stands two inches taller since he no longer slouches, he is working on his STS rating, and his hugs are the best in the world.  Hang in there mom - your precious girl is fine, and you will be too.  As hard as it is to believe, No news really is GOOD news.

Thank you so much that makes me feel a little better.  I guess like everyone else I just need to hear that she is okay.  But as you stated no news is good news.

Thank you so much this has helped me more than you can ever think.

My son should have arrived at Great Lakes today and I have not heard from him. How long did it take for you all to get the call to let you know your son/daughter has arrived? I am also a Navy wife and my husband says I should not be concerned but I just need to know that he has made it there safely.

My daughter called the same night around 11:30pm and said she had made it and she had to go that was 2 days ago.

It's a long day for them.  My son left at 9am in the morning and I didn't get our call until almost midnight.  If you don't get one today, you should get one tomorrow.  However, it has happened that the call did not come for some reason.  If it does not, try not to worry.  They really are okay, and you will be getting your box and your form letter in about a week to 10 days.

That makes me feel a lot better! I know my husband went through all of this and he knows what he's talking about but it doesn't seem to bother him like it does me. This has been the longest day of my life and I'm over here losing my mind while the Cheifs on base are finding it amusing. I'm sure he is okay but it's hard.

The same for me. My daughter left the 18th and about 1130 that night I got that same call. And its dreadful because im used to texting or talking to her everyday every sec. This is day 2 for me and I finally got my nerve up to go into her room. It was horrible. So I put her clothes that I had washed, into her drawers and came right back out of there. So I'm not ready for her bedroom yet. Or maybe I should, and just have one total melt down and get it over with.

My boy leaves in the middle of summer right now I can only imagine until it happens. I have been having a couple of sleepless nights just wondering what it will feel like. good luck and I hope you hear from your daughter soon and a longer call.

Helen...My son left on Jan. 17 too, got the same call you did and it plays over and over in my head.  I can't wait to hear his voice like I remember it.  I don't sleep well and still cry alot, a little less than the day before.  A minute doesn't pass that I don't wonder what and how he's doing.  We will get through this...I truly believe after being on N4M for the past 2-3 weeks that no news is good news.  I hope the processing days are going well for your daughter and my son.  This whole rollercoaster ride is heart wrenching.  I can't wait for graduation --maybe I'll see you there:)

ddhurd..My son arrived in GL Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. and his "I'm here" call came at 12:59 (yeah I watching the clock)  You will hear from him soon, expect him to sound like he's reading from a book (just like Helen described).  We are all in this together.  My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

I just got my phone call!!! I feel so much better now!

Wow...That was fast.  My daughter on the 17th as well.  I hope and pray I get that call soon, because I'm going stir crazy.  I've had several small meltdowns and I hear everyone say that once I get that first call saying that she is ok I'll be much better.
