The day we thought would never be here has arrived finally.
We are driving up to Boise to check our son, Zach into a hotel
from which he will be picked up in the morning and taken to MEPS
then to the airport to go to Great Lakes. I'm so proud and sad at the same time.

My daughter is a MEPS (San Antonio TX) today and has a flight to GL tonight at 6:00pm. These boards are a great source to help us through the next 8-9 weeks. I know exactly how you feel, I am so proud of her but I will miss her so much!!

We are sitting at meps now waiting for him to be sworn in. I feel so out of control.

My daughter just sent me a text saying that she is waiting to be sworn in as well. It's great that you are there with him...she is bored out of her mind right now.

Zach just got sworn in.  He's having lunch now then well receive orders and we will take him to the airport.

That's wonderful!!!! Congratulations to Zach. Kayla will be sworn in one hour then it's off to the airport, Her flight is not until 6:00pm Texas time :( Another long day of hurry up & wait

We just left him at the airport. Tearful goodbyes. His flight is at 2 Boise, idaho time. He and Kayla will probably arrive about the same time.

I haven't heard from her and I am wondering something....does she get sworn in and then not be able to use her phone until she gets to the airport? I know it has only been 2 hours but I thought for sure she would call as soon as she was sworn in....Hopefully she will text soon, as I am so anxious right now. :(

I think zach has his phone off after he was sworn in.  they can't have their phone at basic so she will have to send it home when she gets there. she will be instructed to call you via pay phone within the first couple of days just to tell you she is there.

Thanks! She actually just texted me to say she was on her way to the airport and will call once she is able to. Her recruiter said she can bring her phone to basic and make the 15 second call then it will be mailed home with her belongings......I'm so happy we found each other as they both will arrive the same day. As I am writing this she just called to say the plane from San Antonio was cancelled to O'hare so they are sending them to Dallas and then onto GL....What a long couple of days it has been, they are going to be exhausted!

I'm so happy she was able to text you. Too bad about the canceled flight. I'm sure it just adds to the stresses.
