My son left Jan. 3rd and i cried a few days, but after much prayer and knowing and believing that he is/will be okay, my tears stopped. Well I got my phone call two saturdays ago and after much screaming (lol) my heart and mind was at ease. Now for some reason, I am missing my son like crazy! I woke up with him on my mind yesterday and i'm crying off and on. I pray all is well and its just my emotions. * sigh* Patiently waiting for March 1st so I can boardthis plane and see and hug my 1st born baby! Hope you all have a blessed day!

Hello to all Navy family and friends of 07/078. Thirty four days till our SR's big day.  Hoping to hear something soon, still waiting patiantly for a letter..... Hanging in there, Happy thoughts...   Have a great day!

Margaret,

Fortunately, I have gotten a few letters from my son.  He said that they love hearing their name called at mail call.  He also said mail it like gold to all the recruits.  So even if he isn't writing back, he must be getting the letters and loving them.  My son said he didn't care what people wrote as long as he had contact with the outside world.  I put another post on FB with his address hoping someone else besides me would send him some mail.  Here are some interesting things he wrote about his life there.  They get their mail 30 minutes before lights out. They don't get mail on Sat/Sun.  He loves the extra items I am sending him like comics and articles about the Navy.  He can't wait to take a shower ALONE.  LOL  Hang in there, hopefully he will write you soon.  Doreen

Doreen,

Thank you, Thank you.  I thought they only got mail on the weekend. My daughter is in 07/078 and I have sent alot of letters as well as sharing the address with family and friends.  I pray she is getting them and giving her some contact with the outside..  It's just alittle hard waiting for the mail everyday and not recieving one from the GL.   I don't know of any of the familys with girls in 07/078 that have recieved a letter.

Thankyou for your post!

Margaret

My girl is there too..her name is Amanda...no news from her going crazy with worry...

We have not gotten a letter either and I have a girl there. Interesting I didn't realize no other girl moms in 07 078 had not gotten a letter. Dare I say that makes me feel a bit better but makes me wonder too. I am about to go nuts waiting for a letter!

Im going crazy with worry too.

My thing is do they withhold their mail if they are all in trouble? It is one thing for her not to be able to send me mail. I will live. I worry about her not getting our mail though kwim?

I think they are very busy. Plus - to be a bit silly they could be washing their hair instead of writing- guys have no hair. I suspect too they're studying. If all of the women have nor reason I would say it's a time piece! Plus aren't many older? My child has lived away from home for 6+ years and probably isn't as home sick for me as a younger person who is away from home for the first time. Not that she doesn't know or care that I also cried and miss her. She wouldn't let me go to the drop off because of that! She'll always be my baby! She knows that too. We'll get one soon and in fact it could be a cascade of letters. d

When do I need to make reservations? How many people can come?

4 people over the age of 12 can come but your SR has a list. Only those on the list have spots. I have already made ressies. I called Residence Inn one day earlier this week and made them. Spirit is having a sale and I ended up buying our tickets last night for 350! There are 3 of us so I was super happy with that price. I had a nasty virus yesterday and my friend that is a travel agent called me and told me to get on line now and buy. I was shocked it was that low. The cheapest I have found before that was 560 for all 3 of us.

I checked this morning and the Ramada Inn is running out of rooms. I RSVPd for Sarge's meet and greet since I am not staying at the Ramada Inn. There are plenty of hotels in the area, but I know several people are going to the Ramada.  I am staying at the Candlewood Suites because I want to make my son's favorite dish and heat it up in the room on Friday after graduation. He just keeps talking about missing home cooked food, so I thought this would be a great surprise.  This room has a table, etc.  I am sure we will take him out for lunch after PIR, but we will get hungry later and can have this as a surprise before taking him back around 7 p.m.  I also told him in a letter to invite any SR's that don't have family/friends coming in for PIR.  I am sure there are several that this is too much of an expense and will miss it.  I would hate to hear an SR went back to the ship and didn't do liberty on Friday.
