Hi Ali..welcome....

thanks:)

My son is in this division I also started a facebook page for this division if you search on facebook for ship 09 div 088 you will find it. Please join us and the other loved ones. Also join navy recruit command on Tuesday at high Noon CST there is a trivia question whoever responds with the correct answer wins a division photo. I am from Texas and my son is 18. I feel like we will be getting mail this week maybe Thursday I hope.Nice meeting you all. If you have a problem finding the div on facebook look up cindy Austin

Can you post a link to the FB page.  I can't seem to find it :(

Hello Ladies !!! My name is Jenny. My son is (ship 09 div 088) as well !! We are from a small township outside of Winston-Salem NC. Even though we have had a very mild winter here...I sure wish we could skip Feb., come on spring & March 16th.!!!!!!.

I agree~ HOPE we ALL get letters this week !!  Just worried because my son left behind the stationary I gave him for Christmas. At least he took the address book and stamps...we will see!!??

I have not booked flights yet, I have been checking everywhere ,Mwrtravelplus.com so far has been a bit cheaper than say Travelocity.. my dear hubby is still considering driving....aagghhh!( ladies agree with me in prayer he WILL decide to fly..haha)! Anyone else thinking of driving it?? I have booked our hotel...Courtyard/Marriott...$79(2queen)$89 with breackfast. Has anyone thought of in lieu of renting a car..just rely on taxi cabs ???

I was wondering if  you & your loved ones are finding the seperation from our future sailors a little easier??? That first week- hands down was worst of my life. But now I realize how selfish that was. So instead of grieving...now I pray for strength & courage & health for ALL our SRs. And my heart and prayers go out to the families who now are where WE were a few weeks ago...I hope they find comfort here (n4m) as we comfort & encourage each other !

Hello All,

So excited at the prospect of mail!  I really can't wait!  I was reading on some of the other divisions that their recruits letters were heartbreaking because they were unhappy.  I am trying to prepare for that same type of letter (just in case) but am also trying to remember that I expect he will be unhappy for this first month as it is a BIG change and this is the adjustment period. Haven't really succeeded in convincing myself, but giving it a good try!  We booked our room right away and are driving in for PIR.  We are at the Courtyard Marriott.  Is anyone not bringing 4 people?  We have 5 people in our party and will have to put one on the "hope to get in list".

Hope you are all feeling better in spirit and a little less tearful :)

WE GOT A LETTER!!!!!  SOOOO EXCITED!!!!!   HOPE ALL OF YOU GET YOURS TOO!

My son is doing well and I feel great!  He says it sucks, it's hard, and and he is homesick!   BUT, it DOESN"T say that he hates it, made a mistake, or is thinking of leaving.  So, in my book, he is doing great!  It has made me feel so good to hear from him. I pray all of you get this today too!

All I can say is ..."you go girl!!!" so happy for you & yours!!!!!! Think I may RUNNNN to mailbox!!

We got a letter today!  He sounds good - wrote about plenty of food and new bed-making skills

It was a relief to hear from him.

We got a letter from our son today!!! Sounds like there's a few of us that got that little piece of heaven!  My son sounds great.... mentioned that processing week was bad, but now that he's in actual training it's not that bad!!  I feel so much better just hearing from him and already can't wait for the next letter!!

My son said processing week was pretty bad too.  He has not mentioned how the food is.  What did your son say about the food Texas Valley Mom?  My son did tell us about having to click pens above their heads for 30 minutes. :)

My son said that the food was all right -- and there was plenty of it!  I don't think he's going hungry.  I think they are all glad to be out of processing and in to the real thing!
