Anyone's recruit on this ship and Division?

I wouldn't mind having a scarf but I will go with lapel ribbons if that's what is decided.  Just let me know.  THANK YOU SO MUCH for doing this, Melissa. :)

I am flexible and will do what everyone else does.  :)   I like the lapel pin or the scarf.  Will the facebook lady know we are all fromt the same division and make them all the same?   We can just order whatever we want and tell her what div we are.

Lala's ribbons are what I was talking about the other day when people were suggesting something subtle but not a scarf, with division info and such.  But she has scarves and other things, too.

They come with an anchor, your SRs name (first or last), and the division number.

It's easy to order from her directly so that no one has to deal with getting them shipped to us individually.

You can find her at her facebook page or she frequents our PIR discussion (not this division, the entire PIR).  You can go to her page her - http://www.navyformoms.com/profile/Lala and send her a message.  She'll tell you all about how to order.

I had already planned to order some of the ribbons which is why I thought of them when everyone was talking about their preferences.

I really prefer the lapel pins, noticeable but not too much!  Plus, I have a 30 year old and 23 yr old sisters coming with and I don't think they would wear the scarf.

How about this,   we order the lapel pins and then if you would like a scarf you can order that.  I can put orders in for both if you wish.   My daughter would probably like a scarf as well but I am not one to wear something around my neck.  I feel as though I am choking when I do.

Lauren I really do enjoy doing this stuff.   It is really no problem at all.  I schedule 400 + people for volunteer duty at our soccer field.  this is an easy thing to do try getting 400 people to volunteer that is the hard part.  LOL   I enjoy the distraction.

OOPS...replied on Nancy's...sorry...meant to put this here.  Lapel pin is fine and a good point about being subtle.  Would the ship and division numbers be put on them...say a Navy blue pin with yellow numbers or vice versa?

Yes I think that is what we will get Navy Blue with Yellow Lettering.

I got a letter today! So did my my mom. He sounded upbeat. Said everyone is talking about "our sites." Our SR's, I think, are happy we are communicating with each other. My one-liner from his letter was, p.s.the food here is shit compared to yours. That put a smile on my face:-))

Aww he misses your food.  I am glad you got your letter I hope I get mine tomorrow.

I can believe that your food would be superior to RTC food!  You have spoiled him. He probably has a very discriminating palate.

I got a letter today!  Shorter than the last one because apparently he was writing it when there was a rove of the laundry room and they got the hit that cost him the laundry PO job.  He was hoping to be E-3 by graduation and now he won't be so he was really bummed.  On an upbeat note, he aced the tests on ships and aircraft, rank and recognition, uniforms and grooming, first aid and lifeboat survival (which he said he had no problem learning since it was life or death!).  He really enjoys PT and the 8-Counts...Jeez! He feels like he is lagging behind because he is not getting the folding thing down as well as he would like.  He ended the letter with "I can't say more right now. Just trying to gather myself".  My heart broke when I read that.  When I spoke to him on the phone he sounded better because the guys had helped him.  I am so grateful you all are here.

Ladies, I just want to remind you of the Community Guidelines and OPSEC. When I was reading, I saw some mention of our SR names and such. We need to be careful.  I'm the first to admit that it's easy to feel safe here or like we are talking to our best friends. But ANYONE can come in here and read this discussion.  PLEASE be careful.

I don't mean to step on any toes.  I just wanted to remind everyone to think carefully about what they post.
