I met your husband at Midway Airport right after PIR. One of my sons bf... he likes you too! Sometimes my son gets called "Bruce", our last name is Banner... (think of the Hulk)...

Hi Moms. We've been quiet for a bit here. Hope the physics test went well for the other MM's this week. Seems like there's a test a week in PS. Mine sounds in pretty good spirits. Wishing a good weekend for all....

I haven't talked to my son in over a week.  His phone is disconnected so I'm thinking he forgot to pay the bill, again.  Of course I'm worried about him.  Isn't that what moms do?  I know that eventually he will gain some maturity and maybe get himself a bit more organized.  I bite my tongue to keep from giving too much advise or offering to take over chores like bill paying.  But I still go nuts worrying and waiting to hear from him.  I don't have a clue what's going on with classes or tests this week or how last week went.  You'd think this was my fisrt kid to leave home rather than the last one. LOL

Well, now that I got all that out of my system...How is everyone else out there?

Thanks for hugs, missyg!   One of the best reasons for coming to this site is that everyone helps to make the burden lighter and the anxiety less.

Have a great day, everyone!

My sailor didn't feel so good about his math test today.  Haven't heard what the final outcome was.  Hoping for better on the Heat Transfer test Fri.  He's having a hard time after hearing a friend he grew up with committed suicide on Friday.  It was so hard for him to get his heart into studying on Sunday.  I doubt he cracked a book after he found on Saturday.  Hoping he can clear his head and focus.  Such a tragedy that had devastated a great family and many of our old friends.

So good to read your posts.  We're in this thing together!

First off, I just want to say Hello MamaCindy. I just wanted to let you know that I know your son, and he is a gentleman! He's pretty goofy too. My husband and him hang out quite often, and the last 2 weekends he has spent some time playing video games with my husband, some other people, and me. My 16 month old even plays with him, and my 2 dogs adore him! When I read your post, I originally didn't know who it was about. But then my husband said he was saying he hoped he was going to be able to be in Georgia this weekend for the funeral. We kind of put 2 and 2 together, and then I saw your pics and saw who your son is. My husband said he has seemed like he was doing pretty good all week (I'm sure he's probably trying to look stronger than he feels right now), but he has an open invitation to our house any time he wants/needs to hang out. I think my husband is going to invite him over for a "video game day" with a couple other guys. Which means, I will probably take the baby and go walk the mall for a bit, lol. I just thought it would be nice to say Hi.

MamaCindy, What a sad thing for your son and so many others.

Missyg, I finally heard from Corey. Yes, he forgot to pay the phone bill and so had no service till pay day.  He has always managed to spend every dollar he gets his hands on.  So, he hardly ever has money the last few days before payday.  He is putting 10% in TSP.  So at least when he's not blowing every penny, LOL.

He did well on his tests last week and was in high spirits.  I have the entire weekend off work and am going to spend it in Goose Creek.  I will take lots of home baked goodies for Corey to share with friends and classmates.  I hope he does well on the Heat Transfer test.  He said he can't always remember all the equations & so that's what he'll be drilling himself on.

Well, time to get ready for work.  Everyone have a great day!

Missyg, I am always happy to give proxy hugs!  What is your daughter's name?

I have not made reservations for graduation yet.  Guess I should get on it.  I am hoping to take my parents and maybe a couple of my daughters, too.

Have a great weekend!

Missyg, I will certainly deliver your hug.  I also have a daughter named Emily.  She will be joining the Navy sometime in the near future.  Corey is 6'4" but my Emily is only 5'4".

We haven't made any real plans yet.  Corey said something about taking us sailing.  The tour sounds like something I want to check out.

I'm off to GC for the weekend!  I love seeing all those young sailors.  I want to scoop them all up in a huge hug and tell them how proud of them I am.  I can just hear the kid muttering, "Mom, control yourself."  LOL

Oh, DanielleBell, it's so wonderful to hear from you. We heard weekend before last that he had spent time with you guys and had the best time and that he was picking up some pizza last weekend...if I remember that right. I've heard him mention your husband before and was glad they'd had a good time together. I can see him playing with your 16 month old and your dogs. He loves kids and I know he misses his dog. And yes, he's goofy! And I'm thankful to know that he's a gentleman! Just be sure to let him know when it's time to go...he can enjoy himself so much that he overstays his welcome. He can take the kick-out that preserves a friendship! Thank you for being there for him this weekend. Means so much when I can't be there AND his mama isn't what he needs right now.

To others who have asked, I still haven't talked to him this week. We've texted and fb'd some, but I'm hoping to have a real conversation with him today. I've asked him to call, hopefully he will!
Sherry - I hope you have a fantastic time in GC this weekend. Enjoy the time with your Sailor. : )

A good weekend to all. Thank you for your prayers and concern.

So how is everyone doing this fine Saturday evening?? My husband and I are hosting a small video game get-together, and I am serving nachos/tacos for dinner for everyone. MamaCindy, just thought you would like to know that your son is here enjoying himself! At the moment the guys are playing Marvel for the XBox360, it's got a bunch of comic book characters in it. Sometimes I feel like I have a living room full of 10 year olds when they are all playing a game together!! Lol!!
