I was checking on the Navy Recruit Command FB site and they said that unless your SR is going to A school at Great Lakes he is most likely flying out on Saturday to his next school.  Did everyone book their hotel until Sunday and plane or Saturday.  I don't want to miss one second with him but I also don't want to pay for an extra night at a hotel either.

Kimmic1989 - We decided to book a hotel for Saturday night as well - in case he isn't flying out until Sunday or in case we needed it.  We'll cancel it if we don't need it.

We booked ours until Sunday just in case he did not leave on Saturday.   Our flight does not leave until Sunday so either way we are there.  I figured if he did leave on Saturday we could go to the airport with him to send him off.   Either way we are seeing the sights.   I have not been further than N.C. since I was 13 so I want to explore.   I talked to my son's recruiter and he said he was staying in Chicago for MM school but my son has not even gotten it straight about where he is going.    Guess we will find out when we get there.   He is going to be a machinist mate on a sub anyone have any ideas where they would head to?   My son is not the best communicator unfortunately.

We have booked a hotel through Monday.  I have never been to Chicago and so I want to see the sights as well.  My SR's girlfriend will be with me.  We were hoping he wouldn't leave until Monday since his birthday is Sunday but I am guessing that is wishful thinking.  Regardless, his girlfriend and I will be seeing Chicago for a few days. I know my SR is going to San Antonio.

Where are you guys staying?

Welcome to the site. I am glad you found us. Where are you from? we also have a FB page. it is https://www.facebook.com/NavyRecruitTrainingCommand please visit us there also you have to like the page then once you do you can go to the forums and click on our page. Please join us there as well. There is a lot of information there too.

Thanks for the info.  My son is 3rd from the right in the first full row (the row behind your son) in "the photo" as it is affectionately known around here.  I will explore the facebook forum.

Good Morning Navy Mom's Happy Monday.   We are a few days closer to seeing our SR's.  I hope everyone had a great weekend.   My son turned 19 yesterday.   It was a hard day him not being here to celebrate with.   but going through all the posts on here and FB made me feel better.

Have a good day everyone

Good morning Melissa.  That had to be tough not having him home for his birthday!!  Mine will be in Pensacola when he turns 19 in May.  At least I can call him then!  24 days!!!  Can't wait!!

Morning Moms! Hope you all had a great weekend. Mine will turn 23 two days after PIR and as I understand it, he will be in San Antonio so we will celebrate PIR and his birthday after the ceremonies.

Well I wrote my son this morning and am sending it out.   Hopefully he gets it this week.   Anyway, I included random photos of people he knows from the soccer field and some of the kids he coached as well.   Along with pics of the dogs.   I am sure it will bring a smile to his face I put little notes next to each pic.

It was but I wrote him this morning and it made me feel better.   I told him that we would celebrate when we come to Chicago.   I also put in there some of the last names of mom's and wives hopefully most of you have the same last name as your SR's I noticed some have a hyphenated names. so I took the first of the last names.   I assumed.   but I am sure he will find out from them.   only 24 more days we are on the down slide of not being able to communicate with our Men I guess is what we should call them now.   They went in as our boys but our coming out as the men protecting our country.
