It was a very emotional weekend, he called Monday to let me know he arrived safely and was very excited.  I haven't talked to him all week.  I don't know how he is doing and need to know.

at least he sounded excited, that sounds like a good thing to me, my son sounded stressed and miserable.

Thanks for responding, I really hope it works out for your son, in my case, I'm the miserable one, especially since I haven't talked to him since he last called and I don't know how he is doing now.

Awoodlyn when did he leave? Have you called the recuiter for the address? Join this group for support http://www.navyformoms.com/group/bootcampmoms click on the http address then click on +JOIN in the upper right hand corner

Oh, I just looked at the title of your blog and see he left jan 30....so you'll get the box in a week or so and the form letter soon after

Thank you, yes I contacted the recruiter yesterday and I am awaiting him to supply the information so I can write to him.

If his experience is like everyone else's,  he is very tired, stressed, and wondering what on earth caused him to think that joining the Navy was a good idea.

He misses you, the rest of his family and his friends. Soon he'll sorely miss television, radio and the internet. He'll miss sleeping in, long hot showers, soda pop and carpet between his toes.

IF he were permitted to speak with you right now, he might say, "Mom, this sucks".

Do you really want that conversation right now?

I know I don't. Mine doesn't need the daddy that picked her up when she fell off her bike. That daddy can't do her much good right now.

I'd prefer to wait until she reaches that point in the training where she see's the completion of basic training as something that is achievable.

The real conversation I want to have is when she tells me, "It wasn't so bad".

The real issue for me is not being able to provide him with words of encouragement and possible options on how to help him achieve the goal of completeion.  Its the isolation of being cut off.  I'm sorry, but for the last 23 years he has been a constant in my life as far as caring for him and just knowing he is ok.  Right now I know nothing and that hurts more.  Thanks for responding your input is valued.

By enlisting in the Navy, your son is signaling that his training days at home with momma is over. He is ready to be trained by professional men and women in the Navy. There will be situations where no words of encouragement from anyone can be offered to him or can reach him. It's up to him. It sounds like he is ready to go. Let you little bird fly, mom. We all know how you feel. It sucks but it's just the beginning. LOL. Wait until his first call is to his sweetheart and not you!  Keep a sense of humor and stick with us.

Take care.

I recieved his box today with no address to write back. I'm sad! But you are correct he is ready to begin his journey in life.  Thanks

Thanks, I will try, I actually thew him an Anchors Aweigh dinner party a week prior to leaving and invited all the family and his friends.  I set up a writing station at the party and everyone wrote letter, and we took lots of pictures.  I have all the letters and also have written one or two since his departure.  I plan to start mailing him 3-5 letters every week along with the pictures.  I guess Im just anxious to learn how its going for him.  Plus I want to send him a few things like more stamps and another phone card.  Guess I am also learning to be patient!!

Thanks, watched them ALL last night and a few youtube videos of recruits that just finished boot camp.  Boy what would we do without the internet!!!

Hello Everyone!

I am in the process of starting the 03/30/2012 PIR group.

If this has been something you have been thinking about I am asking you to hold off so we don't have duplicate groups. I have a mom as of right now  but will still take a friend request (I'll ALWAYS look at those anytime!) with a private message from anyone interested and just put you in line in case hers is a later date!

Please be patient ladies...stay on here and keep reporting in with your Ship/DIV numbers and PIR dates! Thank you for your help!
