Is there anyone with a SR Ship 2 Div 919?  If yes, please comment on the status of your SR and your experience here.  My son is there.  We are from Texas.  I've already made our reservations at the Residence Inn.  I've been doing a lot of reading online and found that this place has nice 2 bedroom 2 bath suites with full kitchen.  I also spoke with a lady online that verified there is a wonderful free full hot breakfast and that he graduation is only 4 miles or so away from the hotel.  The online site state the suite will accommodate 6 comfortably.  I haven't gotten tickets yet as I'm watching the rates.  I've seen prices  fall as low as 200 RT.  However the deadline for use was prior to my departure date.  Chime in if you are going and will be staying at the same hotel.  Maybe we can have a meet and greet night at the hotel or something.  Can anyone tell I'm extremely excited about PIR and getting to see my SR turn Sailor.  Yeah!

My daughter is in 919, she says she is a "non performer".  I don't know what that means.  I have been told it could be flags, or door holding or greating.  I kinda don't think flags, cause in her first note home, she said she is having trouble walking in step.  that's my girl.  I remember when she was 4 years old and wanted to take ballet lessons.  She lasted about 4 weeks.  When everyone else turned left, she would turn right without fail. lol.......Oh well.  When I get her next letter maybe she will say something about that.

my daughter said she was going to play the clarinet if she can remember how (lol)

My son (SHIP 2  Div. 919) is a Drummer, so I'm sure that's what he has tried out for. I wonder if he got the drummer position as of date: )

My son is (Ship 2 Div 919) arrived on 1/17/12 and I received his PIR letter. On the back of his PIR letter he stated that bootcamp was going extremely good and he told me to stop crying. Just the little note that he wrote on the back of the PIR letter gave me a sense of security and it helped me to stop crying. Of course I have my bouts of sadness. I sent him all the letters that I began writing on the day he left, which was approximately 15 or so : ) I can't wait til the graduation on 3.16.12. Also, I was trying to decide which hotel to stay in. Does anyone know anything about the Navy Lodge and will we have the whole weekend to spend with our "SAILOR"? Yvonne-Michigan Mom

I just read on the Navy Training Command Website - they get the one day, then they go to A school the next.  I'm actually looking at hotels right now from the ones that were sent with the form letter, what Sarge's meet and greet said were nearby, as well as looking at others I might have points for (best western), and if they have transportation to and from airport/naval base, or if I am going to have to rent a car.   I'm trying to save as much money as I can with hotel because flights from Houston, Texas are expensive (900+ for refundable tickets, and 350+ for regular tickets).

The Navy lodge is inside and the sailors don't want to stay there.

Not sure what you mean by "inside" or that the Sailors don't want to stay there.

If your new Sailor is attending A school at TSC at Great Lakes then he will have the weekend for Liberty...but not overnight. Must return to barracks each night. Times vary.

If your new Sailor is attending A school elsewhere they will have PIR day with you...return to base at night and will depart RTC anywhere between 1-3 AM Saturday morning for their Airport...their flight out could be anytime that day. The only time this changes is if there are issues with flight availibility and or just plain liberty changes in general. It's up to RTC...but as a "rule" they leave the next morning.

My sons did as he PIR'd on Memorial Day weekend...we got two extra days liberty at the last minute!

Gotta question for everyone. Has anyone from 919 received a letter besides of the PIR? And have you gotten a phone call since their first night there? I haven't received anything from my daughter and was just curious if anyone else has heard anything from their SR's.

Hello,

I received a phone call yesterday at about 2PM. My son said  everything is going well. He has no issues and he will be able to call again in approximately 3 weeks. I know he received my letters because he asked questions that can only come from the information in the letters. He's going to be able to spend the entire weekend with us. He said the group is performing well. I asked him if it seemed difficult and if he was having any problems with anything. He said all is well and he'd see us at PIR because he had to go. His call lasted approximately 3-5 minutes if that is not stretching it. Anyway, I hope each of you get some form of communication soon. It did my heart well to hear his voice. By the way, he sounds different in a good way. I can't wait to see him.

Omg. Hearing news about your child is likes hearing news from mine. I was waiting for a call or a letter and no luck yet.
