Anyone else have a loved one in Ship 9 Division 091?  My son left 01/17/2012.  He will be going to Pensacola for his A school.

I have my reservations for PIR  we are staying at Motel 6  close to the ramada, I might go to the meet and greet there. Do recruits get to attend the meet and greet?

I still haven't received one either.

All I have received is the form letter with a short note on the back.  I was really hoping for a letter last week since other SR's that left at the same time and even after had already sent letters home.  I was hoping for a phone call this past weekend due to someone on the main site saying their daughter told her they would be calling this weekend, but I had heard that they don't get to call until their third week in training which would be this weekend.  My phone will not leave my side this weekend.  I have written him 21 letters so far.  Today's will be number 22, and I sent a Valentine card.  It's hard not knowing if he's getting my letters.  It helps to be in contact with others going through the same thing.

The part I am having the hardest time is the lack of communication. No letter no phone call. I feel totally disconnected from her. I have no idea what they are doing to her. I know this is a good thing she is doing but it still upsets me to no end.

My daughter Brittany left for boot camp on Jan 17th. She is on ship 09, div. 091. I have not recieved a single letter from her. Is this unusual? We expexted her to call us last Saturday and she didnt. How can I find out how she is doing?

(I'm sorry I caught this so late in the game...I had to remove the last name in your post.)

When is a good time to make reservations? When will we know how much liberty they will have?

I made our hotel reservations already because they said we can cancel anytime up to the day of arrival.  Personally, I am waiting until closer to book our flights.  I would hate for something to change and then be out the money for the plane tickets and not be able to afford to go.  My understanding about liberty is that if they are staying in Great Lakes, you get to see them Saturday and Sunday also, but if they are going somewhere else for A school, they will be flying out Saturday, so you can meet them at the airport and spend a little time with them there as well as give them their cell phone and laptops.  Do you know where your SR will be going to A school?

Yes Pennsicola Fl

If we are allowed to give our then sailors cell phones and laptops at the airport do you think they would be allowed to receive money or gifts?  What does one buy a recruit after their PIR.  I heard the starting packet price of graduation pictures are 140.00. What about one of those Navy Rings do people buy those for their recruits?

Have my reservation! Was thinking about going to the meet and greet at the Ramada. Which one is better? Are they both on the same evening? Thanks for your information.

Three weeks today!  No letter today:(  I just have a feeling something good is going to happen tomorrow!  :)

Yelomoon, I ordered my daughter a "class" ring from http://www.dunham-mfg.com/Class_Rings/DisplayStyles.aspx?cat=14&...

They take about 6 weeks to arrive so you might want to order it for "A" school graduation.

Other ideas I've found on here for graduation gifts are a CAC card reader, saint medals, the photo package.  And, for a lot of people, being at the graduation is a gift in itself.
